Since 1980, Mapei has developed a series of products which emit very low levels of volatile organic compounds to improve well-being in the buildings where they are employed.

These products have been used for decades on sites all around the world and tested by the American Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI). Since October 2005, Mapei’s Eco range of products has been certified and labelled “EMICODE EC1 - very low emission level of volatile organic compounds”, and since June 2010 “EMICODE EC1 PLUS - very low emission level of volatile organic compounds - PLUS”, both issued by the German institute GEV (Gemeinschaft Emissionskontrollierte Verlegewerkstoffe, Klebstoffe und Bauprodukte e.V.) (Association for the control of emissions in flooring installation). And a new award was recently added to the list, the “Der Blaue Engel” (Blue Angel), a German ecology label.
