MAPEI AT CERSAIE

September 7, 2017

The annual appointment in Bologna, which this year runs from the 25th to the 29th of September, is the ideal opportunity for Mapei to present its new products and most innovative, cutting-edge systems, as well as the other activities carried out by the Company over the course of this important anniversary year.

In fact, this year Mapei has turned 80 and Cersaie is the perfect occasion to take stock of Mapei Group’s activities and celebrate the results achieved in Italy and around the world. On the occasion of this milestone, the Company has decided to publish a celebratory monograph to present the history, values and commitment of Mapei over the last 80 years. The monograph is accompanied by a collection of short stories to illustrate the most significant references that have marked the eight decades of the Company and the Group. http://www.mapei.com/80-years

Also, again on the occasion of its anniversary, Mapei has decided to update its website. The site is now more responsive and optimised for mobile devices, while intuitive browsing allows you to search and use all the information available.

When a user connects to the website, they can consult and download technical documentation for the products and systems available on the market; find references grouped together according to category of intervention or area of use; leaf through editions of Realtà Mapei, the company’s in-house magazine, and take an in-depth look at technical issues and current affairs; read news articles and press releases and keep up to date with the World of Mapei. Through the new website you can now browse through the list of training courses held by engineers and technicians from Mapei Technical Services and sign up for the ones you are interested in.

When entering the new site, users can create their own “My Mapei” profile and use their “favourites” area to store the products and solutions they are most interested in, as well as the most interesting and stimulating articles and projects, or sign up for training course and keep track of calculations on the amount of product they require for various projects. http://www.mapei.com/it/en/home-page

At Cersaie Mapei will be reiterating its commitment to environmental sustainability. The Company has always taken great care to safeguard the environment and invests heavily in R&D activities to develop eco-sustainable products specifically created to have less impact on the environment; which is why Mapei products are formulated with innovative, recycled and ultra-lightweight raw materials, developed to reduce energy consumption and to have very low emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and a very high level of durability. The solutions and systems proposed, with improved mechanical characteristics, help increase the life cycle of structures, thereby reducing waste and the consumption of materials and energy for construction work.

In compliance with the most recent environmental standards, Mapei has phased in EPD’s (Environmental Product Declarations), a kind of “identity card” which documents the impact a certain product has on the environment during its entire life cycle. Mapei currently has 172 EPD’s available, which include product EPD’s and system EPD’s for installing ceramics and other materials. http://www.mapei.com/it/en/about-us/mapei-in-italy/the-environment/epd

Design and colour according to Mapei

This year Mapei is focusing on design and colour and, thanks to a series of photo shoots with Marie Claire Maison, a monthly home furnishing and design magazine, in collaboration with Cristina Nava Studio, Mapei will recreate two important settings at the exhibition so visitors can see for themselves the results that can be achieved by using the company’s solutions. Mapei products are proposed in these settings as if they were actual “pieces of furniture”: to the eyes of the visitors Mapei materials are no longer just functional and high performance products. They become characteristic features which enhance the setting in which they are used. They include coloured finishes to decorate and protect internal and external walls, cementitious products to form seamless floors and wall coverings with a materic effect, coloured grout lines for ceramic tiles and mosaics, masonry mortar for exposed-finish walls and, lastly, coloured, protective oils and lacquers for wooden flooring.

In the exhibition area it will also be possible to consult the new MASTER COLLECTION BY COLORMAP® coloured finishes chart, with a collection of more than 1,000 original Mapei shades. The shades contained in the colour chart may be used both internally and externally: amongst the internal finishes is DURSILITE MATT water-based wall paint with excellent white balance and a highly matt finish and DURSILITE GLOSS water-based, stain-resistant, washable finish for a highly attractive effect in numerous bright colours. The collection also includes all the shades for the range of external finishes, such as QUARZOLITE TONACHINO, for the MAPETHERM external thermal insulation system, particularly recommended for their reflectance index of less than 20%, and for the SILANCOLOR and SILEXCOLOR mineral-based systems.

Amongst the other solutions on show it will be possible to see the range of coloured grouts and sealants, all together in one place in the SET THE MOOD COLLECTION. 50 different colours, as well as a transparent version, divided into 5 different collections to help designers and buyers recreate just the right atmosphere: Serene, Traditional, Natural, Romance and Glamour. http://www.mapei.com/it/en/press-and-news/news-and-events/event-detail/2017/09/19/mapei-interprets-design

Tiling adhesives, including for large formats.

In the area dedicated to the display of materials, there will be a presentation of KERAFLEX cementitious adhesives and ULTRALITE lightweight adhesives.

KERAFLEX is a family of high performance adhesives, a favourite of tilers all around the world for its performance properties when bonding all types of ceramic tiles, stone material and mosaics on innumerable and different types of substrate, both internally and externally.

The KERAFLEX family is highly appreciated by tilers for its good workability, its highly thixotropic consistency which enables large format wall tiles to be applied without them slipping and its perfect adhesion, so materials can be applied safely even on ceilings. Apart from the classic version, the family also includes KERAFLEX EASY S1 deformable adhesive for installing large formats over large surface areas, which is also suitable for floors in commercial and industrial environments, KERAFLEX MAXI S1 with very low emission of volatile organic compounds and KERAFLEX MAXI S1 ZERØ, the first ever adhesive with zero climate-change effect: any residual greenhouse gas emissions are offset through the acquisition of certified environmental credits.

ULTRALITE is the family of innovative, lightweight adhesives, unique in their kind and with high performance characteristics. These products contain lightweight natural aggregates or glass micro-beads that make it easier to spread the products and handle the bags (they weigh just 15 kg). Their innovative formulation gives ULTRALITE adhesives up to 80% higher yield compared with other adhesives with the same classification.

Innovation and completeness of the range

Apart from adhesives for installing tiles and fillers and sealants for grout lines, visitors will be able to take a look at various new waterproofing products, including MAPEGUARD WP200: an alkali-resistant, waterproofing and anti-fracture membrane composed of a special sheet sandwiched between two layers of non-woven fabric which forms a perfect bond for the adhesive between the membrane and the substrate and between the membrane and the tiling, allowing ceramic tiles and stone material to be installed securely.

MAPEBAND EASY is the solution for rapid waterproofing interventions on terraces and balconies: a rubber-backed tape used to waterproof edges and corners and suitable for use with a wide range of Mapei waterproofing systems.

Mapei will be showcasing new solutions for urban furniture and features which join the MAPESTONE line of products for installing and re-building decorative stone road surfaces: MAPESTONE JOINT polyurethane binder for sealing grout lines between blocks, paving bricks and cobblestones and MAPESTONE JOINT CLEANER, an odourless cleaner specific for removing residues of MAPESTONE JOINT.

MAPEI COLOR PAVING® is the other new system specifically developed to create decorative concrete road surfaces with an exposed aggregate finish: a complete product system, from ready-mixed screed mortars to water and oil-repellent finishing treatments. Thanks to the vast range of granulated aggregates and coloured pigments available, and the possibility to use locally-sourced stone, this is the perfect solution for creating roads and surfaces suitable for vehicles and pedestrians that integrate perfectly with the surroundings in which they are adopted.

Amongst the other products on show at the exhibition are solutions for seamless floor and wall coverings: ULTRATOP LOFT trowellable cementitious paste for an impressive effect, highly appreciated by interior decorators and designers for its wide range of areas of use and spectacular colour combinations.

The adhesives and coloured finishes for wooden flooring, such as ULTRABOND ECO S968 1K one-component, high performance adhesive compliant with EN 14293 – Hard class, made from modified silylated polymers: a multi-purpose product offering high quality and reliability for installing all types and formats of wooden flooring, and ULTRACOAT OIL COLOR to colour wooden floors: a specially formulated oil used to impregnate and colour wooden floors.

Mapei follows the latest trends and, in line with the products offered by retailers, will be presenting visitors with its solutions for the world of Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT). A complete range of products to guarantee reliable, durable installation in line with the principles of certified eco-sustainability and in full compliance with international programmes aimed at safeguarding the environment and the health of mankind. Mapei offers solutions for installing glue down LVT, loose lay LVT, tack-dry loose lay LVT and interlocking and click connecting loose lay LVT.

Founded in 1937 in Milan, Mapei has now reached the 80 year milestone with 81 subsidiary companies – of which 7 are service providers – and 73 production facilities in 34 different countries in all five continents.

The foundations for the success of the company are specialisation in the world of building by offering certified products and systems to meet the requirements of clients and market demand; internationalisation to be more in tune with local needs and reduce transport costs to a minimum; Research and Development which receives the most support from the Company and the highest number of new employees.
