Mapei’s Involvement in Deep Dive Dubai

From massive installations to one-of-a-kind structures, Dubai is no stranger to breaking the world records. The Deep Dive Dubai recently found its place among the city’s long list of record-breaking achievements, as the world's deepest diving pool.

This incredible pool located in Dubai's Nad Al Sheba neighborhood, features a sunken city that divers of all levels can explore, complete with an abandoned streetscape, an apartment, garage, arcade, guided by mood lighting and ambient music.

The building's facade is styled like an enormous oyster to honor the United Arab Emirate’s pearl diving legacy and the Emirati pioneer’s bravery.

RECORD-BREAKING RECOGNITIONS

• This massive pool holds 14.6 million liters of freshwater, enough to fill six Olympic-sized swimming pools.
• The pool is 60 meters deep and has been certified as the world's deepest diving pool by Guinness World Records.
• Two dry underwater habitats, 56 cameras, and innovative sound and light systems are all part of the experience

MAPEI’S CONTRIBUTION

Mapei, the leading adhesive and concrete repair manufacturers UAE, found that the scope of work for the Deep Dive Dubai project included waterproofing the building's substructure as well as tiling work for the water features and inside flooring. Since this was an incredibly high-profile project, material selection was paramount.

• Moisture sensitivity tests were undertaken resulting in Keraflex & Keraflex Maxi S1, the leading adhesive product was suggested as adhesives since the stone was dimensionally stable and stain resistant.
• Keralastic T, the best adhesive product, was chosen for the glass mosaic installation.
• Kerapoxy Design + MapeGlitter ,the best building materials in UAE, were chosen for grouting the particular white and yellow gold glass mosaic.
• For the waterproofing of the substructure &perfect finish coatings Mapeplan TU S & Idrostop PVC BEC ME was utilized, which are leading sealants products.
