Rove Hotel Al Marjan Island

August 19, 2025

Set along the shores of Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Marjan Island, Rove Hotel stands as a modern expression of smart hospitality, lifestyle convenience, and design efficiency. Rising ten stories above the coastline, the contemporary property brings together 441 guest rooms with vibrant interiors, ultramodern bathrooms, interconnecting family spaces, and a host of lifestyle-focused amenities. From its beach club and outdoor pool to a 24-hour gym, self-service laundromat, and The Daily all-day dining restaurant, the hotel redefines affordable yet design-forward accommodation for today’s travelers.

Behind this carefully planned development lies an innovative construction approach marked by the prefabrication of 441 bathroom pods—an essential strategy to accelerate the building timeline while ensuring quality, durability, and watertight reliability. To achieve this, Rove Hotel Al Marjan Island turned to Mapei, a global leader in construction chemical solutions, whose expertise ensured both performance and precision across every bathroom pod.

At the foundation of this system was Primer G, applied to consolidate gypsum board substrates and provide a strong base for waterproofing. Over this, Mapelastic AquaDefense, a ready-to-use, ultra-fast drying liquid membrane, formed a seamless waterproof layer, reinforced in critical areas with Mapetex 50 fabric for crack resistance and flexibility. This combination guaranteed complete watertight protection during both transportation and on-site installation.

Once cured, the waterproofed pods were finished with Adesilex P9, a high-performance cementitious adhesive that provided long-term tile adhesion without compromising the underlying waterproofing. For grouting, Kerapoxy epoxy grout was selected for its unmatched resistance to stains, chemicals, and moisture—delivering hygiene and durability in a high-use hotel environment. Finally, Mapesil AC silicone sealant was applied at movement joints and perimeters, offering flexibility, adhesion, and resistance to mold.

The results were striking. By using Mapei’s integrated system, the prefabrication process was streamlined, minimizing on-site labor while ensuring consistent quality across all 441 pods. Watertight integrity, durability, and ease of maintenance were achieved, reducing long-term risks of water damage while enhancing guest comfort. At the same time, prefabrication supported by Mapei solutions contributed to sustainability goals through reduced waste and optimized resource use.

Rove Hotel Al Marjan Island is more than a new hospitality destination—it is a model of efficiency, collaboration, and forward-thinking construction. Mapei is proud to have contributed its world-class solutions to the success of this project, reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in building the region’s most innovative developments.
