Allagrande Mapei is ready to set sail for the Ocean Race Europe 2025

Ambrogio Beccaria will be at the helm of his new IMOCA 60 sponsored by Mapei
August 9, 2025
Ambrogio Beccaria is ready to set sail aboard his new Mapei-sponsored vessel Allagrande Mapei for the second edition of The Ocean Race Europe 2025, with a race course that stretches from the Baltic Sea, through the North Sea and the English Channel, into the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean before a finish in Boka Bay, Montenegro.

It will be the debut of the new IMOCA 60 with the colours of main sponsor Mapei after the announcement of the new ocean adventure Allagrande Mapei Racing. For its first participation in this long and demanding stage race, Ambrogio has chosen to rely on a solid and close-knit crew, made up of Thomas Ruyant, Morgan Lagravière, Manon Peyre and Pierre Bouras (on board reporter), and Abby Ehler and Hugo Feydit, in the third and fifth stages respectively.

The regatta, which will start from the port of Kiel in Germany, will last one and a half months, with long, technical and closely fought stages between the seven mixed crews, representing 13 nationalities. A 4,500-nautical-mile journey across Europe, between sport, team spirit and sustainability.

"I am really excited about this European Ocean Race," says Ambrogio, "like the idea of a regatta that unites several countries in Europe. Going from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean, which is a bit my sea, the one where I grew up, is a great emotion. And then I can't wait to make a stopover in Genoa, the city where I was trained and where my previous Class40 project was born".

An exceptional jumper
Accompanying the Allagrande Mapei team will be an exceptional guest, Rachele Fogar as a 'jumper'. In fact, the guest will be on board together with the team during the dock out from the harbour and will stay with them until the starting line, to then dive into the water and be rescued by a support dinghy. Born in 1991, the model, influencer and amateur sailor inherited her passion for travel and adventure from her father, the famous sailor, explorer and writer Ambrogio Fogar.

Physiological and biomechanical monitoring
During The Ocean Race Europe Ambrogio will be followed by the Mapei Sport Research Centre with an innovative physiological and biomechanical monitoring programme, aimed at studying the effects of ocean sailing on the body. Already at Ambrogio's side for some time for athletic preparation, sports medicine and nutritional assistance, the staff of the Centro Ricerche Mapei Sport will conduct a study on the effect of an offshore race on anthropometric, physiological and cognitive variables by testing Ambrogio and 7 other professional sailors a few days before the start of the competition, during an intermediate leg and at the end of the race.
