Opened in 1985, the Circuito de Jerez has established itself as one of the most iconic motor racing tracks in Spain.
Over time and with intensive use of the complex, renovation is necessary to meet current technical requirements, both in terms of mechanical resistance and anti-slip properties. In addition, the aim is to improve its aesthetic quality, creating a vibrant, safe, and visually appealing track in line with its international prestige. All these requirements, together with attention to detail, make the Mapecoat TNS Race Track system the ideal solution to meet the high demands of the Circuito de Jerez. This colored, non-slip, state-of-the-art acrylic coating has been developed by Mapei for asphalt and concrete surfaces subjected to extreme conditions, and is officially approved by the FIA (International Automobile Federation) and the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation), guaranteeing compliance with the highest international standards in terms of safety, durability, and performance. Thanks to its high resistance to abrasion, chemical agents, and adverse weather conditions, as well as its ability to maintain surface roughness even in humid environments, this system not only improves the technical functionality of the track but also contributes to its aesthetic quality, allowing for color customization of curbs, escape routes, and horizontal signage that reinforces the visual identity of the track. Interventions and Application Process: The project included a comprehensive intervention in key areas of the circuit, ensuring optimal surface upgrading through a planned process that ranged from initial technical assessment to final application of the Mapecoat TNS Race Track system, ensuring that each stage met the functional, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements demanded by international federations, thus consolidating a substantial improvement in the quality, safety, and performance of the track. The main phases of the process were: 1- Resurfacing of Pits, Pit Lane Area, and Escape Routes: The existing substrate was assessed and found to be in good condition, so it was used as a base for the new coating. This optimized resources and ensured maximum adhesion of the Mapecoat TNS Race Track system, while also guaranteeing high durability against the mechanical and climatic demands of a racing circuit. Two colors were applied in accordance with the project requirements: Mapecoat TNS Race Track Traffic White 9016 and Mapecoat TNS Race Track Sky Blue 5015. 2- Application of Final Coat with Roller: Using the Mapecoat TNS Race Track system, a uniform layer was applied to the pavement to optimize traction and reinforce wear resistance, ensuring consistent performance even under extreme conditions of temperature, humidity, and mechanical stress, which contributes significantly to the safety and reliability of the track in high-level competitions. 3- Completion and Commissioning: With the work now complete, the circuit is fully prepared to welcome the world's best drivers and teams, consolidating its position as an international benchmark in the field of competition. In addition, a company specializing in maintenance and technical systems has been hired to ensure that the pavement remains in optimal condition over the long term, guaranteeing continued performance and safety. Thanks to the combination of advanced technology, certified materials, and professional expertise in execution, this project has become a model of quality and efficiency within the motorsports sector. |
