Certified excellence

Since 1994, Mapei SpA has been applying a Quality Management System certified by Certiquality, in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.

Mediglia and Latina plants with Milan R&D laboratories have also implemented an Environmental Management System, in compliance with ISO 14001 standards and a Safety Management System in compliance with BS OHSAS 18001.

Both Mapei SpA facilities have been awarded a Certificate of Excellence, which is issued by Certiquality to facilities that adopt certified quality, environmental and health and safety management systems.

Sustainable products

Mapei products certified as having low emission level of volatile organic compounds marked with voluntary and mandatory labels guarantee the quality of indoor air, thereby safeguarding the health of those who apply the products and the users of areas where they are applied.

Mapei also studies the entire life cycle of its products by applying the LCA method to verify their impact on the environment from the raw materials stage to the disposal stage. The results are then communicated through EPD’s (Environmental Product Declarations) in order to guarantee transparency and prevent greenwashing.

Environmental programmes

Protocols developed by Green Building, aimed at promoting sustainable building, are becoming increasingly important to the market.

Mapei products are an important contribution to protocols such as LEED and BREEAM thanks to the use of recycled raw materials, certified low emissions and environmental declarations known as EPD's (type III Environmental Product Declarations).

Italy recently introduced CAM’s (Minimum Environmental Criteria), which are now mandatory for projects in the public sector: Mapei products also meet the requirements described in this protocol.

Mapei technology

We have developed the concept of “Green Innovation” and we have applied it to all those products which, apart from meeting the requirements of LEED Regulations and the most important certification institutes, also have other characteristics to improve environmental comfort in the areas where they are applied and safeguard the health of users. Real technological objectives you will only find in Mapei products.
