On the 6th and 7th of March the play-offs between Poland and Hong Kong were played in Kalisz to qualify for the 2020 Davis Cup, of which Mapei is an Official Partner and a supplier of solutions for the playing surfaces where the matches were held.
The system chosen by the Polish Tennis Federation and their technical team was MAPECOAT TNS REMOVE, a temporary, removable, multi-layered system of acrylic resin in combination with self-laying, fibre-reinforced PVC matting, specifically designed for creating pro-grade tennis courts.
Thanks to the simplicity of this system during application and removal, temporary indoor and outdoor tennis courts can be installed very quickly, or can even be left in place for a more permanent solution.
MAPECOAT TNS REMOVE may be applied over existing painted surfaces or on new cementitious or asphalt surfaces that still need to be coated. And lastly, it can even be used to create playing surfaces over concrete with rising damp.
The system has been awarded ITF 3 certification and is available in 24 standard colours, or in a host of other colours on request using the ColorMap® automatic paint-mixing system.
The system had already been used in the past for the courts in Zielona Gora, where the finals of the 2019 Federation Cup were held, and they were highly praised by the match umpires for their performance during the games without showing up a single defect.
The players, both winners and runners-up, also praised the system for the level of comfort offered by the courts during rallies, which allowed players to change direction quickly and safely, for the precise bounce of the ball and for their blend of balance and slide.
The MAPECOAT TNS REMOVE system will be in action again for the women’s Federation Cup matches to be held in April in Bytom and also for the men’s Davis Cup matches in the second half of the year.
