Mapei solutions for quality living on show at MADE expo 2019

Mapei, one of the leading manufacturers of chemical products for the building industry, will be taking part in the MADE expo trade fair, a two-yearly appointment for the construction and architecture sectors, which is being held from the 13^th to the 16^th of March at the Rho Exhibition Centre in Milan.

For the building sector, Mapei will be proposing new solutions and systems to meet the requirements of all those operating in this sector, from private and public building works to major infrastructure sites. Also highlighted at the trade fair will be a host of solutions for the interior design sector; solutions that provide a combination of aesthetics and technical quality.

Apart from the latest developments and systems for the building sector and for the world of architecture and interior design, the MADE trade fair is also the perfect opportunity for Mapei to hold a series of product demonstrations showing how to apply materials correctly, and to host exclusive guided tours.

WATERPROOFING PRODUCTS FOR ROOFS AND STRUCTURES BELOW GROUND LEVEL

Fully aware of the damage and potential risks caused by a badly designed waterproofing system, Mapei has developed a number of solutions and systems in order to achieve perfectly watertight protection.

To waterproof flat roofs, terraces and balconies and green roofs, Mapei will be proposing the PURTOP EASY range of ready-to-use polyurethane products. This is a family of one-component liquid membranes which are easy to apply on horizontal, vertical and sloping surfaces. And thanks to the vast range of primers available to complete the system, PURTOP EASY forms a very strong bond with a multitude of substrates such as concrete, cementitious screeds, ceramics, cement-fibre panels, old bitumen membranes and metal. What is more, the high level of elasticity of membranes from the PURTOP EASY range makes them perfect for application on both new builds and on existing structures. And lastly, thanks to the versatility of PURTOP EASY, each installer can choose their preferred application method: with a trowel, roller or by spray.

The PURTOP EASY range also includes the one-component, transparent polyurethane membrane, PURTOP EASY T. This particular product meets the requirements of all those who wish to give a new lease of life to their balcony or terrace, without affecting its appearance. PURTOP EASY T, for a sound, excellent waterproofing solution in a very short space of time.

For foundation structures Mapei is proposing MAPEPROOF FBT, a new synthetic membrane with non-woven fabric backing, the fully-bonded waterproofing solution for structures below ground level such as carparks and garages, swimming pools, storage tanks, underpasses and areas below ground level in general. This type of membrane forms a monolithic bond with concrete once it has been placed and remains perfectly bonded over the years. MAPEPROOF FBT is easy to apply and remains waterproof at pressures of up to 7 bars and is impermeable to radon and methane gases. It is also resistant to UV rays while normal site activities are being carried out.

CEMENTITIOUS MORTARS FOR CONCRETE AND MASONRY

Mapei is also present on the building market with an extensive range of products and systems designed to overcome specific types of problem, whether you are working on a new build or renovating an existing building.

At MADE expo, Mapei will be highlighting their mortars for concrete by presenting MAPEGROUT ANCHOR & REPAIR, the new fibre-reinforced compensated-shrinkage R4-class mortar for refurbishing concrete in compliance with EN 1504-3 and anchoring metal structures in compliance with EN 1504-6. When MAPEGROUT ANCHOR & REPAIR is mixed with water it forms a highly plastic mortar suitable for repairing severely damaged structures that require the use of free-flowing mortar. It is also recommended for the structural reintegration of reinforced concrete pillars and beams by pouring it into formwork, reintegrating floor slabs where damaged areas have been stripped away and for repairing concrete floors, while as an anchoring product, for example, it is recommended for anchoring metal structures and machine tools by pouring it under and around the base.

Amongst the other ready-mixed mortars on show at MADE expo there will be INTOMAP, a family of cementitious building and pointing mortars for load-bearing, exposed-finish masonry and lime and hydraulic binder-based render applied on internal and external surfaces of both existing masonry and new builds.

DEHUMIDIFYING SYSTEMS

To combat the problem of rising damp, at MADE Mapei will be proposing two different specific product cycles and a chemical barrier for various types of intervention.

POROMAP DEUMIDIFICANTE, a one-product / one-layer dehumidifying render for all types of masonry, both internal and external, suffering from rising damp. This product is made from special Pozzolan-reaction, salt-resistant hydraulic binders, natural sand, lightweight aggregates and special additives. POROMAP DEUMIDIFICANTE, which has very low emission of volatile organic compounds and is mixed according to a formula developed in the Mapei research laboratories, is certified EMICODE EC1 R^PLUS by GEV.

MAPE-ANTIQUE is a line of 100% cement-free products made from lime and Eco-Pozzolan resistant to saline aggression, specific for particularly aggressive environments (masonry in lagoon areas or close to the sea where there are high concentrations of salts). MAPE-ANTIQUE is ideal for consolidating, restoring, dehumidifying and rendering existing masonry buildings, including those of historical and artistic interest with protection orders issued by heritage bodies.

MAPESTOP is a complete range of products, in the form of liquid or cream, which is used to create horizontal chemical barriers against capillary rising damp and, when used in combination with dehumidifying render cycles, help improve durability, especially in structures suffering from saline deterioration.

STRUCTURAL STRENGTHENING FOR BUILDINGS

Amongst their range of structural strengthening solutions for buildings, Mapei has developed cutting-edge, innovative solutions such as PLANITOP HPC FLOOR, to strengthen floor slabs with just a compact layer without the need for electro-welded support mesh, and the MAPEWRAP EQ SYSTEM, to provide protection against the collapse of ceilings, partition walls and raised floors.

At MADE, Mapei will be presenting the innovative, cement-free mortar with added micro-reinforcement, PLANITOP INTONACO ARMATO, for strengthening existing masonry without the need for support mesh.

MAPEWRAP EQ SYSTEM and PLANITOP INTONACO ARMATO will also be on show at FOCUS, an exhibition at MADE Expo of selected products that stand out on the market for their innovation and performance properties.

STREET FURNITURE SYSTEMS

Mapei will be proposing various street furniture solutions at MADE. The MAPESTONE system to create monolithic decorative stone paving, the MAPESTONE JOINT system for pervious and elastic decorative paving, the MAPEI COLOR PAVING system for decorative exposed-aggregate paving and the MAPECOAT TNS URBAN system for decorative resin paving (for cycle lanes, pedestrian zones, carparks, indicating areas for vehicle access and multi-purpose areas).

Mapei products and systems for street furniture are at the cutting-edge in terms of versatility, application and performance and combine aesthetics, practicality and durability. What is more, Mapei products and systems are safe, sound solutions and fully compliant with current norms and standards.

MAPESHIELD TO PREVENT CORROSION IN REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES

To protect reinforced concrete structures and prevent the onset of corrosion, Mapei will be proposing MAPESHIELD, the galvanic cathodic protection system to prevent corrosion in steel reinforcement. The system includes MAPESHIELD I (pure zinc anodes coated with special conductive paste), MAPESHIELD E 25 (self-adhesive zinc plates applied directly to the external surface of structures) and MAPESHIELD S (self-adhesive zinc plates).

MAPESHIELD may be used in a number of areas: in repair cycles on reinforced concrete structures, to prevent corrosion in existing structures that have not shown any sign of problems, to increase the durability of new structures and for on-board protection of metal elements and structures.

DECORATIVE COATINGS FOR SEAMLESS SURFACES

Amongst the family of solutions for surfaces, Mapei will be proposing ULTRATOP LOFT, a seamless cementitious coating product for contemporary interior design.

ULTRATOP LOFT is a trowellable cementitious paste, available in a coarse-textured or a fine-textured finish, used for refurbishing existing surfaces and creating new decorative coatings. Thanks to its particular texture, it may be applied on horizontal surfaces, vertical surfaces and on ceilings. ULTRATOP LOFT is highly resistant to abrasion which makes it an ideal solution, not only for residential surroundings, but also for commercial settings with a high volume of pedestrian traffic.

At MADE expo, Mapei will be presenting ULTRATOP EASYCOLOR, the new colouring system for ULTRATOP LOFT using the ColorMap^® automatic colouring system.

Thanks to Mapei’s extensive range of exclusive tints, ULTRATOP EASYCOLOR is available in more than 200 different shades that can be used with ULTRATOP LOFT coatings to create seamless surfaces in which shade, texture and colour become obligatory aesthetic choices in the field of contemporary interior design.

All of this combines to make ULTRATOP LOFT ideal for use within contemporary retail outlets, resorts and hotels, in spaces dedicated to museum and art exhibitions, right up to solutions for those special places used for entertaining and in more intimate settings in the residential sector. Perfect solutions for those areas where we live, entertain and work: floors and walls which come to life with a marked materic, tactile as well as visual impact

COLOURS LIKE YOU WOULDN’T IMAGINE

Mapei has a vocation for colour running through its veins, a calling that can be seen in every Mapei product line.

The range of wall finishes in particular has an extensive range of more than 1,000 original shades, all presented in the MAPEI MASTER COLLECTION colour chart, and all available with precision and repeatability thanks to the ColorMap^® automatic colouring system.

At MADE expo Mapei will be presenting the new DURSILAC family, water-based enamels for internal and external surfaces containing ultra-fine pigments and innovative acrylic-urethane resins. Specifically developed to protect and decorate the surface of wood, metal and PVC, they spread beautifully and have a very high level of surface hardness.

DURSILAC enamels are all water-based and do not give off any particularly unpleasant odour or harmful emissions, making them an ideal solution for internal surroundings. Quick and easy to apply, they do not suffer from yellowing which makes them suitable also for external surfaces. These enamel finishes are available with a satin (DURSILAC SATIN), gloss (DURSILAC GLOSS) and matt finish (DURSILAC MATT).
To complete the range there is the anti-rust undercoat for external metal surfaces DURSILAC NO RUST and the fillerized DURSILAC BASE FILLER with good defect-covering properties for wood.

Also featured will be the Mapei solutions to prevent mould and mildew: a complete range of paints and coating products containing BioBlock® technology, with specific products for every situation, from internal surfaces in the food and drinks industry and sanitary areas, to finishing off external thermal insulation systems.

ADHESIVES FOR CERAMIC AND STONE

Mapei, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of adhesives for ceramic and natural stone, will be at MADE to propose the ULTRALITE family of one-component lightweight cementitious adhesives: unique, cutting-edge products ideal for installing all types of ceramic, mosaics and natural stone, and particularly recommended for installing compact porcelain tiles and large format slabs. They are particularly versatile with characteristics that make the work of installers simpler and quicker.

Apart from respecting the environment, thanks to their special formulation with 20% recycled material content, ULTRALITE adhesives also contain glass micros-beads, which make them much easier to spread, as well as natural aggregates. Also, to safeguard the health of tile installers, Mapei ULTRALITE adhesives include Low Dust technology to drastically reduce the amount of dust given off during mixing, and come in 15 kg bags with handy carrying grips which, apart from making them easier to handle, means that the same m² of tiles can be installed as with a 25 kg bag of traditional adhesive, thereby reducing consumption and transport costs thanks to their particularly high yield.

SET THE MOOD COLOURED GROUTS

Once again, Mapei will be proposing their range of SET THE MOOD coloured grouts at MADE, a collection of cementitious and epoxy grouting pastes and sealants. 50 different colours, as well as a transparent version, divided into 5 separate collections to help designers and buyers recreate just the right atmosphere: Serene, Traditional, Natural, Romance and Glamour. For mould-resistant grout lines with a uniform colour that remains stable over the years. A complete range and the only one on the market with such a vast range of products and wide choice of colours to meet all needs and match any requirement when installing tiles and stone material in any type of surrounding.

MAPEI 4 LVT: NEW MATERIALS FOR INSTALLING LVT, SPC AND RIGID LVT

Mapei recently introduced a new range of adhesives and complementary solutions to the LVT product family to achieve perfect installation every time.

To help install any type of resilient floor and wall covering, Mapei will be proposing ULTRABOND ECO V4 EVOLUTION, the new universal all-in-one adhesive particularly suitable for modular LVT.

ULTRABOND ECO MS 4 LVT WALL is a revolutionary Mapei adhesive, the only one of its kind in the sector, for installing LVT on floors and walls in damp surroundings. This year it comes with a new, improved formula which is easier to apply, which also makes it suitable for installing SPC and rigid LVT.

And lastly, for the LVT market, Mapei will be proposing the non-slip tackifier ULTRABOND ECO TACK 4 LVT, now improved with a new formula: even more rapid, easier to apply and with better tack.

Also showcased is SHOWER SYSTEM 4 LVT for waterproofing and installing LVT, SPC and rigid LVT in bathrooms and damp settings in general: the three complete systems (SHOWER SYSTEM 4 LVT^{1, 2, 3}) are made up of three different types of waterproofing product which are already part of the Mapei range, innovative ULTRABOND ECO MS 4 LVT WALL adhesive, KERAPOXY 4 LVT grout and MAPECOAT 4 LVT non-slip finish.

MAPEI SILYLATED ADHESIVES AND COLOURED OILS FOR WOODEN FLOORING

For the wooden flooring market, Mapei will be presenting the new silylated adhesives for the installation of all types and formats of wooden flooring on any type of substrate.

The range of adhesives complies with Euronorm 14293 in the Soft and Hard categories and with ISO standards in the Hard and Hard-elastic categories. Mapei silylated adhesives contain no water, solvents, amines or epoxy resins and have very low emission of volatile organic compounds (EMICODE EC1 R^PLUS).

ULTRABOND ECO S958 1K is a one-component, silylated polymer-based adhesive classified as hard-elastic according to ISO 17178 standards for installing any type of solid and pre-finished wooden flooring on any type of substrate, including heated screeds.

ULTRABOND ECO S LITE is an innovative silylated polymer-based lightweight adhesive with extremely low density, which means much lower consumption of product per square metre. So, when installing flooring, floor layers only have to handle bags weighing 40% less than normal bags.

ULTRABOND ECO S PLUS is the only one-component, silylated polymer-based adhesive with no ethanol emissions, a further safeguard for the health of floor layers and the environment. All Mapei silylated adhesives comply with the strict requirements of German standards and are all within the emission limits for methanol set by the standards. And, with the new ULTRABOND ECO S PLUS adhesive, Mapei is anticipating the terms for certification because it is completely free of methanol emissions.

Amongst the other proposals is ULTRACOAT OIL COLOR low-odour urethane oil finish for colouring wooden floors. ULTRACOAT OIL COLOR may be recoated with two-component finishing products from the ULTRACOAT line, 100% water-based, non-yellowing varnishes used in civil and commercial surroundings subjected to medium and intense volumes of traffic, to protect the surface of wooden floors and provide long-lasting durability.

ELASTIC HYBRID SEALANTS AND ADHESIVES

At MADE Mapei will be presenting a complete range of elastic hybrid sealants and adhesives characterised by their flexibility in terms of areas of use, high performance properties and low rate of environmental emissions.

The range comprises ULTRABOND MS RAPID hybrid installation adhesive for deformable bonds on internal and external building components, the new MAPEFLEX MS40 paintable hybrid sealant with low modulus of elasticity for internal and external joints subject to large amounts of movement and crystal-clear MAPEFLEX MS CRYSTAL elastic hybrid sealant and adhesive for “invisible” applications.

But the jewel in the crown of the range is undoubtedly MAPEFLEX MS45, a paintable, elastic hybrid sealant and adhesive compatible with damp and wet substrates, recommended for making internal and external elastic seals and fillets and for sealing joints in civil and industrial floors. The sealant is also suitable for making elastic bonds between building components in both internal and external surroundings.

All hybrid products from the MAPEFLEX and ULTRABOND MS range are characterised by being easy to extrude and smooth over, including in cold weather, their very low emission of VOC and not requiring hazard or warning symbols on their packaging.

MAPEI SELECTED BY MADE FOR THE ELLE DECOR DESIGN BOX

Suggesting new inspirations, trends and interpretations is just one of the intentions that MADE aims to achieve with their ELLE DECOR Design Box, designed by the architects Calvi Brambilla under the artistic direction of the magazine Elle Decor Italia.

Along with the magazine, MADE has selected a series of products, which include ULTRATOP LOFT, MAPEFLOOR COMFORT SYSTEM and TONACHINI by Mapei, to propose them with a new look in this “container” where finishes and coatings are the only true protagonists.

PRODUCT DEMONSTRATIONS AND GUIDED TOURS

Something that couldn’t be missing from MADE are the product demonstrations carried out by technicians from the Mapei Technical Services, to present the correct way of applying Mapei solutions and systems and the benefits they bring.

But the interesting novelty this year is the guided tours of the Mapei stand and the systems on display. Mapei personnel will be on hand to provide all the information needed and to help visitors choose the most suitable solution.
