The challenges of Type 1L cement

Type 1L cement, also known as Portland-limestone cement (PLC), contains up to 15% interground free limestone – an increase from the 5% allowed in traditional Type 1 cement. While this change aims to reduce environmental impact, industry professionals have reported challenges such as:

• Re-Con AGG 100: Used at low dosage rates, it minimizes water absorption by the limestone, increasing the probability of bleed water, reducing surface cracks and enabling easier hard-trowel finishes. (Meets ASTM C494, Type B)
• Dynamon EW 12: This acrylic-based slump extender is designed to maintain concrete slump for up to 90 minutes and is ideal for use with low- to moderate-absorbing Type 1L cements. (Meets ASTM C494, Type S)
• Dynamon EW 100: This acrylic-based slump extender maintains slump for up to 90 minutes, optimized for moderate- to high-absorbing Type 1L cements. (Meets ASTM C494, Type S)
• Dynamon Easy 75: A blended acrylic-based admixture with MAPEI polycarboxylate polymers, it provides superior water reduction and extended slump life for improved finishing. (Meets ASTM C494, Type A and Type F)
• Mapecube line: These strength-enhancing admixtures reduce cement usage while maintaining compressive strength, supporting low-carbon concrete production:
  • Mapecube 1: For precast concrete (Meets ASTM C494, Type S)
  • Mapecube 4: For ready-mixed concrete (Meets ASTM C494, Type S)

MAPEI’s newest solution to address these challenges, Dynamon Easy 75, is a blended acrylic-based admixture that incorporates advanced polycarboxylate polymers. This innovative formulation is designed to enhance the performance of concrete mixes, offering several key benefits:
