Aplicación	The Acequia Mayor del Pantano de Elche is a hydraulic system of great heritage value, with more than a thousand years of history. This set of infrastructures, made up of canals, dividers and other auxiliary structures, plays a fundamental role in supplying water to the municipality of Elche. The passage of time, constant exposure to atmospheric agents and continuous use have caused considerable deterioration of these elements. With the aim of preserving their structural integrity and guaranteeing their long-term operability, a comprehensive waterproofing intervention was carried out. To this end, advanced Mapei technical solutions were used, specifically developed for the rehabilitation of historic infrastructures subject to high functional demands. This action not only contributes to the conservation of the hydraulic heritage, but also ensures the sustainability of the traditional irrigation system in the current context. Description of the interventions and the application process: The waterproofing process started with a meticulous preparation of the substrate, including cleaning, verification of its mechanical suitability and structural integrity. This preliminary phase was essential to ensure the correct adherence of the materials subsequently applied. This was followed by the application of two successive coats of Mape-Antique Ecolastic elastic coating, a high-performance waterproofing system formulated with a lime base, specially designed for environments with high humidity and the presence of salts. The application was carried out by roller, guaranteeing homogeneous coverage over the entire surface. With a total thickness of 2 mm, this initial coating not only ensured excellent adhesion to the substrate, but also prepared the surface for future interventions. Thanks to its technical properties, the Mape-Antique Ecolastic system not only restored the waterproofing of the hydraulic structures, but also contributed significantly to extending their useful life, offering an effective, durable and heritage-friendly solution.
