Mapei’s ninth Sustainability Report outlines the Group’s ongoing commitment to responsible growth across all 59 countries in which it operates. The report highlights concrete actions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, including the expansion of the Zero* Line and increased energy efficiency in manufacturing. Equal emphasis is placed on people, with a strong focus on inclusion, training and ethical values. Engagement with local communities, culture and sport further reinforces Mapei’s long-term vision for a sustainable and shared future.

In a rapidly changing world, companies face an increasing number of challenges related to climate change, energy and social responsibility.  Continuing along its path of responsible growth, Mapei has decided to take concrete action to address these challenges as an integral part of its corporate strategy and day-to-day business operations, as documented in its ninth Sustainability Report, which, for the third year running, covers all 59 countries in which it operates.

Reducing emissions

The extending of the Zero* Line is exemplary in this respect: it now includes 230 products whose residual CO2 emissions – as much as 300,000 tonnes in 2024 alone – have been entirely offset through certified environmental credits. This commitment translates into support for reforestation and biodiversity protection projects, actively contributing to the fight against climate change.
But Mapei's environmental initiatives are not just confined to its products. The energy efficiency of manufacturing processes is being enhanced by installing photovoltaic systems in its manufacturing plants to reduce emissions by over 1,600 tonnes of CO2. A step forward towards increasingly efficient, low-impact manufacturing.

Working as a team

The Group closed 2024 with consolidated revenues of 4.4 billion Euros, a result achieved thanks to the hard work of Mapei’s team of over 13,000 staff worldwide, who have always been at the very heart of the company's corporate strategy. In addition to providing training, professional development and welfare projects, the company promotes a fair, inclusive and meritocratic work environment.
This is highlighted in the updating of the Code of Ethics, which is now even more focused on the principles of respect, inclusion and the promotion of diversity, fundamental pillars of Mapei’s corporate culture.

Working with local communities

For Mapei, sustainability also means establishing close ties with communities and having a positive impact on people's everyday lives. This vision underscores the “A Day for Others” project, the first corporate volunteer proj-ect for staff, who have the chance to devote some of their time to social initiatives during working hours.
This same spirit of giving back and focusing on the common good is also at the focus of “Mapei for Culture”: this project epitomises the Group's long-standing commitment to promoting the architectural and artistic heritage, both by offering its expertise for the renovation of major works, like Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, and by supporting important institutions and cultural organisations around the world, such as La Scala Theatre in Milan and the Mosaic Association Australia and New Zealand (MAANZ).
Mapei is continuing to invest in sport with passion, tenacity and team spirit: the guiding principles behind the company’s growth that are mirrored in the achievements of the athletes and teams its supports around the world. In football, for example, Mapei sponsors Sassuolo Calcio in Italy, Club Atlético Lanús in Argentina and Grazer AK in Austria.
With an eye to the future and roots firmly grounded in the past, Mapei is committed to building a more sustainable, inclusive and responsible world.
*CO2 emissions measured throughout the life cycle of products from the Zero line in 2025 using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, verified and certified with EPDs, have been offset through the acquisition of certified carbon credits in support of forestry protection projects.
