From Auckland to Abu Dhabi, and from New York to Indonesia, Mapei has played a central role in the transformation of basketball courts into vibrant, high-performance urban landmarks. Each project leveraged the versatility and durability of the Mapecoat TNS systems to deliver safe, weather-resistant, and visually striking surfaces. From the Te Ara Tukutuku mahi courts in New Zealand to the iconic Red Bull court in Brooklyn, Mapei’s innovative solutions enhanced community spaces, combining aesthetics, sport, and cutting-edge technology to inspire players and spectators around the world.

SILO PARK ART COURTS, AUCKLAND (NEW ZEALAND)

In the heart of Auckland's Wynyard Quarter, the local authorities decided to renovate the existing asphalt basketball courts, which were the previous America’s Cup bases since 2021. The Te Ara Tukutuku mahi (the binding of the land and the sea) project, aimed at representing the union between land and sea, led to the choice of Mapecoat TNS Extreme, an acrylic-resin based coating. Mapecoat TNS Extreme was selected as the ideal solution for this multi-sport area due to having excellent physical and mechanical properties, allowing it to protect high-traffic surfaces used by players, cycles, skateboards, scooters and vehicles alike, while also providing the perfect non slip surface for sports and play. Mapecoat TNS Extreme ensures surfaces with excellent resistance to UV rays and sea-spray to be created in any colour or design, as demonstrated by the bright contrasting colours of the wonderful Te Ara Tukutuku mahi design.

CITY COURTS, KOŠICE AND BRATISLAVA (SLOVAKIA)

In the residential districts of Košice and Bratislava, a number of playgrounds were in such a state of disrepair that they discouraged children and young people from using them. Thanks to the initiative of the painter Peter Cvik and the support of Mapei, these spaces were transformed into welcoming and safe places for the community. The projects saw the use of Mapecoat TNS Fast acrylic resin-based coloured coating to ensure proper protection to sport surfaces subject to a high level of footfall.

RED BULL COURTS, NEW YORK (USA)

Thanks to the collaboration between Red Bull and Mapei, a new basketball court has been built in the heart of New York for the final of the Red Bull Half Court 3on3 tournament. The competition brings together the world's best streetball players. Designed by artist Carolina De La Cruz Rodriguez, the court was built in Brooklyn, not far from the famous bridge, using products from the Mapecoat TNS range and combines excellent playing performance with a lively design that celebrates the city's dynamic spirit.
Mapecoat TNS PU 3-in-1 urethane patch, adhesive and sealant was applied to fill the cracks in the asphalt. This was followed by Mapenet Reinforced mesh which was placed between two coats Mapecoat TNS Base Coat White HV as reinforcement.
Mapecoat TNS Finish 3 coloured acrylic resin-based coating guaranteed a colourful wear-resistant surface. The colours used include Light Blue, Swiss Red, Arena Yellow, and Light Gray. The playing lines, marked with Mapecoat TNS Line Seal and Mapecoat TNS Line Tex, complete the project, making the field a landmark for the local community.
