The Cypress Cove residential community in Fort Myers, Florida, underwent a large-scale reroofing project to address extreme heat and severe weather conditions. Polyglass’ Polystick MTS Plus underlayment was installed on over 45,000 m². The project was completed on schedule and received the 2023 S.T.A.R. Shining Star Award for quality and performance.

Cypress Cove, a large residential community set among the palm trees and subtropical climate of Fort Myers, southwest Florida, recently underwent a major reroofing project. CFS Roofing, a roofing specialist with more than 40 years of experience in the Florida area, was commissioned to install over 45,000 m2 (more than 500,000 square feet) of new metal roofing on buildings across the 170,000 m² campus.
Given the scale of the project, the lengthy construction schedule and supply chain issues, the team had to make precise technical choices to guarantee efficiency, durability and safety at every stage. One of the most important was the choice of underlayment. CFS opted for Polyglass’ Polystick MTS Plus** , a high-tech waterproofing solution designed to withstand severe weather while simplifying installation, even in challenging conditions.

Protection against extreme climates

Polystick MTS Plus** is a self-adhered waterproofing underlayment formulated for metal roofs exposed to high temperatures and severe weather. Utilising ADESO self-adhered dual-compound technology, Polystick MTS Plus features a polymer modified bitumen upper compound and a proprietary self-adhesive SBS (elastomeric) compound on the underside. This structure ensures strong adhesion, long-term durability and outstanding cold flexibility.
One key factor behind the choice of Polystick MTS Plus**  was its UV exposure rating of up to 180 days. Polystick MTS Plus** can also withstand temperatures of up to 129°C (265°F), making it particularly suitable for metal roofs exposed to extreme heat – an essential requirement in Florida’s subtropical climate. The product is also approved under major US building codes, confirming its suitability in the most challenging climatic and regulatory environments.

Award-winning quality

Thanks to all of these characteristics, the roofing contractor was able to complete the project on schedule while maintaining high quality standards.

The project was selected for the 2023 S.T.A.R. Shining Star Award, one of the most prestigious accolades in the US roofing industry, in recognition of its efficiency, safety and durability.

The Cypress Cove project clearly demonstrates that high-performance materials can make a real difference in large-scale roofing projects. Polystick MTS Plus** underlayment met complex operational requirements in terms of durability, site safety and speed of installation, proving a dependable choice for metal roofing in challenging climates where performance and longevity are essential.
