Floor leveling products are important because they ensure an even, stable and durable base for further floor installation. Here are some of the reasons why levelling products are essential in construction and renovation projects:

  • Even surface: Many types of flooring, such as parquet, floor coverings and carpets, require a completely level surface to lay properly. Levelling compounds fill in unevenness and provide a smooth surface for further floor installation.
  • Improves longevity: An even and correctly leveled floor reduces the risk of damage, creaking, cracking or movement and uneven wear and tear in the finished floor; this increases the life of the floor.
  • Time spent: Our range of floor screeds consists of pumpable, fast and normal leveling products for both thin and thick layers. Together, this gives the installer full control over the timing aspect of any project..
  • Benefit when installing underfloor heating and waterborne heating: The levelling compound completely encases cables and pipes so that the underfloor heating system works more efficiently, provides ideal heat distribution and avoids air pockets that can cause problems with the installation.
  • Improved sound insulation: The leveling compound, combined with Mapei's step-sound absorbing underlay, contributes to significantly better step-sound reduction and less noise from footsteps and other vibrations between floors.
  • Prevents moisture problems: Bonding floor coverings to a Mapei levelling compound reduces the degradation of adhesives and coatings over time, as opposed to bonding coatings directly to concrete substrates. This is due to the differences in pH values between concrete and screed.

Sustainability is about more than just words - it's about actually making a difference. Innovation and sustainability are important in everything we do, and our research center for sustainable concrete technology has worked purposefully over time to develop floor screed products that help achieve the construction industry's goal of reduced greenhouse gas emissions. These products are part of our overall commitment to all aspects of sustainability:
  • New RECLIMATE technology: our floor screed products contain low clinker cement, which means we've reduced the carbon footprint as much as we can in the products themselves - without compromising on quality.
  • Product-specific EPDs and documentation: Low greenhouse gas emissions are documented with product-specific EPDs for all products. We can also help to contribute to project-specific EPDs.
  • The products are part of Mapei's ZERO concept: with this concept, we take the CO2 emissions remaining from the product during its lifetime and offset them by supporting climate projects in other countries.
  • Pre-Mixed by Mapei: most of our new screeds can be delivered, mixed and pumped directly to the construction site - also by electric truck. This reduces waste, minimizes dust issues and saves time.
  • Local development and production: the products are developed and produced at our factory in Nord-Odal, Norway.
  • Low emissions: our screeds are all EC1 Plus certified, which means that they emit the least possible volatile organic emissions. This contributes to a safe and healthy indoor environment.
