EDC Render Plaster UK has completed a domestic renovation using a Mapei render solution.  The project, in Sheffield, was completed with Mapei primer mortar, mesh, and protective siloxane top coat, Silancolor Tonachino.  All Mapei materials were supplied by ProTec Render Supplies.

The renovation of the three-storey semi-detached property in Crosspool included all external walls and commenced with removal of existing render back to original brickwork. Eco Prim Grip Plus bonding promoter primer – a low odour and very low VOC EMICODE: EC1 Plus certified formulation - was then applied to promote adhesion on the bare brick surface.  The primer was followed by two Mapei smoothing mortars - Nivoplan and Mapetherm AR1 GG large-grained cementitious mortar – used to smooth and level the facade and alkali-resistant glass fibre mesh, Mapetherm Net, was applied to reinforce the skim coats.  

During the final stage of the renovation, Silancolor Tonachino - is a thick-layered siloxane coating – was applied as a top coat. Transpirant and water-repellent, Silancolor Tonachino has high filling properties and creates a textured finish which protects all types of cement and lime-based renders.
