Mapei shortlisted in INCA Awards 2022

October 3, 2022

Mapei has been shortlisted in the INCA Awards 2022 for an external wall installation (EWI) project carried out in Plymouth City Centre. The INCA Awards represent the best in EWI across the diverse range of categories, including new build and refurbishment projects. Mapei’s shortlisting is within the Refurbishment EWI – Render/Traditional Finish: Low Rise - category for its project at Keyham Road/St Leo Place.  Over-all category winners will be announced at the 41st INCA Awards Ceremony on 17 November, hosted at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.

Designed by Kendall Kingscott Architects, the Keyham Road and St Leo Place apartment building spans over 2,000m2 and overlooks the nearby HM Devonport Dockyard. The external refurbishment project, for Plymouth Community Homes, was completed by Richard Brown Plastering Contractors Ltd for main contractor Classic Builders (South West) Ltd. The project included works to the communal areas, roofing works, windows and doors replacement, EWI to all elevation’s walls and complete redecoration.

Mapei’s Mapetherm Mineral Wool System was chosen to provide thermal performance benefits and BBA Certified A2 rating required by the architectural team. Due to the complexity of the build, Mapei’s technical team were onsite fortnightly, to advise on installation and provide detailed drawings for non-standard situations, as they arose.

Mapei Mapetherm Mineral Wool is a dual-density rock wool insulating panel for thermal insulation systems. Panels measure 120 x 60cm and are available in a range of thicknesses from 40-240mm. Since completion of the renovation, the architectural team and Plymouth Community Homes have specified the Mapetherm EWI system for an additional four apartment blocks, totalling over 6,000m2.
