Job description
Mapei (UK) Ltd. is seeking to recruit a Materials Engineer for underground construction materials, covering the UK and Ireland. This is a new role to support the existing staff structure.
The successful candidate will support customers on site with product evaluation and ongoing product support in connection with the use of TBM’s, tunneling operations and waterproofing.
Applicants must be able to communicate effectively and courteously with customers, managers, and all members of staff.
We are looking for a self-driven, highly motivated person with a positive outlook. Reliable, flexible, trustworthy and a team player. As this is a key development role, we are looking for someone who has an existing knowledge of both SCL tunnelling techniques and TBM operation.
Essential: A full category B driving licence
Minimum Degree in Civil Engineering, or NVQ level 3 in civil engineering
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.
Previous or current tunnelling experience
Good communication, both verbal and written
Desirable: GCSE grade C in English and Maths (or equivalent).
Knowledge of concrete properties, construction grouts and TBM’s
Previous supervisory experience with of sub-contractors

Hours of work: 08:30 to 17:00 with 1 hour for lunch, Monday to Friday. Flexibility will be required when working on sites outside of the above
