Mapei (UK) Ltd is seeking to recruit a Trade Counter Salesperson located in the West Midlands.

This role is suitable for an enthusiastic, reliable, hard-working individual who is willing to go ‘the extra mile’ for the business. Ideally, the candidate should have experience in the Building Products Market and specifically Flat Roofing Systems or Accessories.

The Trade Counter Sales Assistant will be responsible for delivering a first-class customer experience at our branch trade counter. This role combines customer service, sales support, and operational duties to ensure our customers receive professional advice, efficient service, and the highest standard of support when purchasing Mapei products.

Essential:

• A proven successful track record with the current marketplace of a minimum 3 years.
• Minimum 5 GCSE’s grade C or equivalent to include English and Maths.
• Full, clean, current and valid driving licence.
• A full working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable:

• Proven experience in a trade counter, merchant, or customer service environment (construction, building products, or manufacturing sector desirable).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to identify and act on sales opportunities.
• Competent in IT systems and order processing platforms.
• Highly organised, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of roofing, construction, or building products would be advantageous (full training provided).
• Forklift licence beneficial but not essential.
• Literacy and Numeracy: Minimum 5 GCSE’s grade 5 or equivalent (English and Maths required). A good standard of written English is essential for report writing.

Salary will be negotiable based on experience, knowledge and ability. Hours of work: 37.5 hours a week, 0830-1700 Monday to Friday with 1 hour for lunch.
