MAPEI Products used in New Upmarket Apartments

TDT Construction was awarded this project and sourced Mapei’s high quality building products from Bluchip Retail Solutions. Mapei South Africa supplied Keraflex Maxi S1 tile adhesive and Primer G which was used to install the tiles covering 5500m². The lightweight screed substrate was initially treated with Primer G - a synthetic, resin-based, water dispersion primer used to improve adhesion and promote uniform absorption. Keraflex Maxi S1 is a high-performance, flexible cementitious adhesive with extended open time and no vertical slip, for porcelain, ceramic and stone tiles. The tiles were grouted after 12 hours using Mapei’s water-repellent Cement Grey Keracolor FF cementitious grout. The grout was mixed with Fugolastic – a liquid polymer admixture which is used as a substitute for water to mix the cement-based grout to improve the grout adhesion and mechanical strength as well asimprove the compactness and reduce porisity. The perimeter joints and soft joints were sealed using a matching Cement Grey silcone selant - Mapesil AC, while the construction joints were sealed using Mapeflex PU 45 FT- a polyurethane sealant.

As a company with over 80 years of working in the tile adhesive industry, to be able to contribute to this project was a great privilege. To have played our small part in bringing this modern urban residence to the city gives us great pride.
