The Centro de Atención a la Infancia Migrante (CATIM), located in the city of Zaragoza, is a residence specialised in the care of migrant minors.
In order to adapt to its new functions and offer a higher quality service, the centre required a comprehensive intervention on its structure. The renovation project contemplated several key actions, including: the regularisation of the flooring, the thermal treatment of the façade and the application of a chromatic proposal in the interior spaces. From the outset, we worked in close collaboration with the Grávalos Di Monte architecture team, actively participating in the decision-making process to define the most appropriate technical and aesthetic solutions, in line with the firm's vision. Description of the interventions and the application process: The refurbishment process began with the sanding and regularisation of the surfaces, using Ultraplan, a self-levelling mortar with high adherence. This step was essential to generate a smooth and uniform base, an indispensable condition to guarantee the successful application of the Mapefloor comfort System continuous flooring system, specially designed to provide walking comfort, reduce impact noise, offer high elasticity and resistance to UV rays, as well as a smooth, continuous and seamless finish with advanced aesthetics. In this intervention, two layers differentiated by colour -white and orange- were applied, rigorously following the architect's indications. This choice not only provided a visually attractive effect, but also contributed to improving the thermal and acoustic efficiency of the building. For the façade, the Mapetherm System external thermal insulation system (EIFS) was chosen, with 80 mm EPS panels. This solution made it possible to achieve optimal thermal insulation of the building envelope. The final finish was made with Quarzolite Tonachino acrylic coating, with a granulometry of 1.2 mm, an ideal choice due to its high durability and resistance to the specific climatic conditions of Zaragoza. In addition, it contributes to maintaining the aesthetics of the façade in excellent condition over time. An intervention was also carried out on the exterior access ramp, which was coated with Mapecoat TNS Race Track, a quick-drying acrylic coating in orange. This solution was selected for its high strength, durability, anti-slip properties and wide range of colours. It is specially designed to withstand heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions, guaranteeing a durable finish and high aesthetic value. Thanks to the implementation of these systems, a renovation project was achieved that ensures high quality, aesthetic finishes with long-lasting resistance over time, resulting in a technically and visually ideal solution. |
