Designed by Jackson Design Associates and structural engineers, Keith Simpson Associates, the new Upland Manor Nursing & Residential Care Home is a three-storey development set within landscaped grounds. Ensuite bedrooms are located across ground, first and second floors, along with days spaces. Resident facilities include lounge and dining areas, a hair and beauty salon, café and activity rooms, with further ancillary space within the building’s basement level. During the foundation works, KJM Plant & Civils installed Mapeproof AL AP and Mapeproof AL 1200 AP waterproof membranes to protect the underground structure of the building. Mapeproof AL AP is a fully bonded HDPE (High Density Polyethylene Geomembrane) membrane that’s installed prior to the pouring of concrete and Mapeproof AL 1200 AP - a self-adhesive system – is applied after concrete has been poured. The robust membranes are highly resistant to puncturing, tearing, natural elements and provide a barrier against groundwater, soil moisture, radon and methane gas. On contact with concrete, the systems form a permanent, tough bond. Mapeproof Liquid Membrane - a polyurethane elastomeric, thixotropic, liquid waterproofing membrane used to seal, fill and detail all concrete elements - was also utilised throughout construction.
