Where to use
SLURRY SHIELDS
Mapedrill Bio K, due to its cohesive characteristics, gives the possibility of obtaining a low content solid slurry, able to permeate the first soils centimetres, and consequently to stabilize the tunnelling face.
Moreover, due to its suspension quality, Mapedrill Bio K is able to prevent the segregation phenomena, which normally slow down the discard materials removing operations.
Mapedrill Bio K has a lubricating effect for mechanized tunnelling, reducing the torque (especially in presence of fine particles) and enhancing TBM performance.

EPB
The use of Mapedrill Bio K gives more stability to the foam produced with foaming agents, also inhibiting clay swelling.
Mapedrill Bio K is able, moreover, to lubricate the mechanized tunnelling in every machine moving parts.
Mapedrill Bio K, due to the presence of potassium ions, is able to integrate with the clay molecular structure, limiting the water swelling through a neutralising process of the electrical charges present on the surface.
Mapedrill Bio K is suitable for being used in presence of Mg++, Ca++, SO42-, Cl- ions and could be employed also in contaminated soils.

Consumption
A slurry for Hydroshield: from 0.2 to 0.5%.
As foaming stabilizer from 0.2 to 0.8%.
As polymer for brattice stabilizing mud from 2 to 6 kg/m3.
