Mapei continues as Support Partner for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race
In the previous two decades Mapei has forged inextricable links with Australia and the world of professional cycling. These close ties will once again be in evidence in January 2016 when the world-leading manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and chemical products for building proudly sponsors the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, which promises to be one of Australia’s greatest weekends of professional and recreational cycling.
This commitment carries particular poignancy as it enables Mapei to express its abiding gratitude to an iconic Australian sportsman who has represented the company with professional and personal distinction over the past twelve years.
‘We are very proud of Cadel’s achievements,’ says Dr Adriana Spazzoli, Mapei’s Operational Marketing Director. ‘He is a quiet, serious and dedicated person, who is a credit to Mapei and the sport of cycling. His decency and personal qualities are as important as his sporting successes and the forthcoming event provides Mapei with a wonderful chance to show our appreciation. We cannot be there in person but our Australian representatives will be present, to convey our thanks and support.’
The partnership between Mapei and Cadel has been built on shared ambition and mutual respect, with individuals such as CEO Giorgio Squinzi, and the greatly admired Aldo Sassi, helping to create an environment in which the tenacious and naturally gifted Australian could fulfil his considerable talent.
Cadel wore the Mapei team’s famous cubetti jersey during the 2002 season and has trained subsequently at the state-of-the-art Mapei sports centre in northern Italy, where his transition from promising mountain biker to eminent road cyclist took place.
Mapei established its Australian subsidiary some twenty-two years ago and has made an immense impact into the building and construction industries by supplying the best quality products on the market. Mapei Australia is based in the Brisbane suburb of Wacol and has developed a deserved reputation for excellence in every state and territory. Mapei manufacture and supply over 1400 innovative products across 15 product ranges, positioning Mapei as a world leader in the supply of eco-sustainable building products (adhesives, grouts, waterproofing, primers, concrete repair, concrete admixtures, protective coatings and much more).
The event starts on Saturday 30th January 2016, with the people’s ride in the morning followed by the Elite Women’s Race in the afternoon.
The Elite Mens Race will be staged on Sunday 31st January 2016.
