What is Mapei’s PRIMER MF EC PLUS?

Mapei Primer MF EC PLUS is a two-component, low-viscosity epoxy primer designed for cementitious substrates. The two-component formula enables the primer to consolidate support and reduce the viscosity of the substrate. DEPENDING ON SOIL CONDITIONS, primer MF EC PLUS can be applied in quantities from 200 to 400 grams/m2. It is recommended that a soil temperature of 3degC is reached before applying the product. The application rate of this product can range from seven to fifteen m2 per order, but the quantity depends on soil conditions and the number of binder units needed.

Technical specifications

Primer MF EC Plus is a two-component solvent-free 100% epoxy resin-based product with very little volatility. Organic compound (GEV Emicode Emicode EC1+) and low viscosity allow it to penetrate the pores of substrates. Primer MF EC Plus is entirely solvent-free, meaning it is not flammable and has a mild scent, as is familiar with resin-based products. This makes it ideal for waterproofing applications in areas that are populated.

Usage recommendations

• Don't dilute Primer EC Plus with water or any other solvent, especially when there is a continuous rise in the dampness.
• Do not apply to wet surfaces.
• Do not apply Primer EC Plus to smooth self-leveling and mortar to level.
• Avoid using acid to clean the surface where the membrane will be placed.
• The product is suitable for consolidating heated screeds and anhydrite substrates. However, it is not used to reduce the moisture content. So, ensure that the substrates are dry before using the material. Based on local regulations, a concrete substrate is usually classified as dry for the humidity of up to 2 percent CM, and up to 75 percent R.H. The other is that an anhydrite-based substrate can be considered dry for values of 0.3 percent CM.
• For smoothing and making sure that mortar and adhesive are levels, to create an excellent anchor using surfaces treated by Primer E Plus, apply an even layer of quartz or clean, dry sand in the proper size onto the product when it's still in its new state. Loose sand must be removed after Primer MF EC Plus is set and before applying the other products. Parquet can be directly bonded to the substrates treated with Primer MF E Plus without broadcasting sand with the help of a reactive epoxy polyurethane adhesive or one-component salivated or polyurethane-based adhesive.
• If Primer MF EC Plus has not been sand-blasted and is set, the surface will appear shiny. Before applying cementitious leveling and smoothing mortar for installing multi-layered parquet with salivated adhesives, use an adhesion booster like Eco Prim Grip and Eco Prim T Plus; before direct bonding with adhesives, surfaces need to be sanded thoroughly.
• To stop condensation from developing over the top of the product when it is in the process of setting during the time of application, the temperature of the substrate should be at or above 3 degrees Celsius over its dew point temperature.
