Four international projects demonstrating how advanced waterproofing technologies enable green roofs that harmonise architecture with their surrounding landscapes. The projects—located in Italy, the Netherlands and Hungary—highlight diverse design challenges and technical solutions.

The structural restoration of Dubrovnik’s Cathedral of the Assumption, a UNESCO World Heritage landmark whose Baroque dome had suffered severe damage from water iseepage and ageing. Following detailed inspections, Mapei specialists identified the causes of damage and proposed targeted strengthening solutions. The intervention included the application of advanced carbon-fibre solutions from the MapeWrap C UNI-AX system to reinforce the dome.

The Mapei France plant in Saint-Vulbas, near Lyon, underwent a complete roof re-waterproofing intervention. The project involved the application of a high-performance Tecnocoat polyurea system to restore durability and improve thermal behaviour. The seamless membrane provides excellent mechanical strength, flexibility and watertightness without increasing structural load.
