Mapethene™ products provide high-performance waterproofing
by Jason Covington
Mapethene HT and Mapethene LT are 60-mil, self-adhering sheet membranes consisting of 56 mils of rubberized asphalt laminated to a 4-mil, cross-laminated puncture resistant polyethylene film. The combination of these two excellent waterproofing materials provides a durable, high-performance waterproofing membrane. Mapethene HT membrane is suitable for installations where the ambient and substrate temperatures are above 40°F (4°C). Mapethene LT is designed for ambient and substrate temperatures between 25°F and 60°F (-4°C and 16°C).
Both self-adhering sheet membranes can be used for both vertical and horizontal waterproofing on structural foundation walls and decks. Typical applications include below-grade foundation walls, split slabs, parking decks and tunnels. Mapethene membranes are compatible with many common construction materials including concrete, concrete masonry units (CMUs), metal, wood (pressure-treated and fire-treated), rigid insulation and insulated concrete forms (ICFs).

Features and benefits of the Mapethene system include:

  • Factory-made, ensuring a consistent, controlled thickness

  • High hydrostatic head resistance

  • Wide application temperature range, from 25°F to 120°F (-4°C to 49°C)

  • Complemented by the full line of Mapedrain drainage composites

  • For use with an assortment of industry leading contact adhesives/primers, including:
