Yes. In determining the quantities of mortar to order, it is important to know the added amount you will need for coverage with these membranes, and to make your calculations accordingly. Mapeheat™Membrane requires more mortar for coverage than Mapeguard® UM membrane, for example.
Mapeguard UM is approved for exterior applications with some limitations; please consult the Technical Data Sheet for details. Mapeguard UM 35 [NA] is not approved for exterior applications.
Direct application of tile mortars over oriented strand board (OSB) panels is not recommended; first, an uncoupling membrane such as Mapeguard UM is needed as a substrate for proper adhesion of the mortar.
