As a UCI Main Partner, MAPEI Group invites the world to catch all
the excitement from Kigali, Rwanda
Laval, Quebec — It’s time to start pedaling in the heart of Africa! From September 21 to 28, Rwanda will be hosting this year’s UCI Road World Championships in the capital city, Kigali, with Main Partner MAPEI right by their side.
Over 4,000 riders are registered to compete in this year’s races, including 54 from Canada. Since 2008, MAPEI Group has been a Main Sponsor of the UCI Road World Championships, a flagship event on the international cycling calendar broadcast by major TV stations all around the world.
2025 will make history as the first-ever UCI Road World Championships to be held on the African continent.
According to Samson Ndayishimiye, President of the Rwandan Cycling Federation (Fédération Rwandaise du Cyclisme – FERWACY), cycling is one of his country’s most popular sports for several reasons, not least the cycling infrastructure and Rwanda’s terrain that has something for everyone: elevation combined with flat roads. Already known for its national cycling tour, the Tour du Rwanda, the country has been preparing for the UCI Road World Championships since being awarded the event in 2021.[1]
And stay tuned for next year! Because true to its international nature, this race will be jumping from Africa across the Atlantic to North America, for the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. And you can be sure MAPEI Canada will be riding right alongside.
