MAPEI Cerfix Proangle Q profiles put the finishing touch on the Bosco Verticale

Inaugurated in 2014, Milan’s Bosco Verticale (Italian for “vertical forest”) is an ambitious metropolitan project that combines reforestation with highrise housing. The innovative, eco-friendly initiative saw the construction of two residential towers in the city’s historic Isola district, featuring more than 2,000 shrubs and tall trees.  

The mission of the project, from the time of construction to the present day, has remained the same: to increase eco-diversity through the vertical densification of nature. The complex was designed by Studio Boeri (Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca and Giovanni La Varra), with the aim of enhancing the livability of the area’s micro-climate.

The two towers are of different heights: 381 feet (116 m) and 276 feet (84 m) tall. Their presence colors the city skyline and also promotes sustainability by absorbing carbon dioxide and generating oxygen in an urban area of dense traffic.

MAPEI profiles added flair to a highly sustainable project

The same attention to detail was employed within the interiors of the two towers as with the exteriors. Thin-set tiles made by Lea Ceramiche and Cotto d’Este were selected for the bathrooms, and teamed with Cerfix Proangle Q, ZQTMN/45 brushed aluminium profiles with bright satin titanium finish by MAPEI.

These finishing elements are highly functional, protecting the external edges of ceramic tile coverings, while also providing an elegant overlay to hide the rough 45-degree angled cut in the tile edge.
