MAPEI Earth Day: Planting Trees and Improving Our Environment

Earth Day, observed on 22 April annually, serves to remind us of the fragility of our environment and how important it is for us to protect it, not just on Earth Day but every day.

MAPEI Malaysia marked Earth Day by planting trees around its manufacturing facility and giving saplings to staff members to do the same in their local communities.

Trees offer many benefits, both long and short term. As well as being visually pleasing, they remove and store carbon from the atmosphere, reduce stormwater run-off and so reduce the risk of flooding, enhance air quality and mitigate the urban heat island effect by reflecting sunlight and providing shade. In addition, trees provide food, protection, and homes for many birds and mammals.
