Cookie Policy

Pursuant to the Canada Anti-Spam Legislation (‘‘CASL’’) and the Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (‘‘Act’’).

This cookie policy must be read together with our Privacy Policy. Please read our Privacy Policy for further information on what we do (and what we do not do) with your personal data and on how important the protection of your privacy is for us. We have prepared this cookie policy to describe the types of cookies and other technologies used on our website and platform and to describe the reasons and terms of use of such cookies.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on the user's device. Cookies are very common and are used on many websites. This is because cookies allow website operators to do useful things. For example, a cookie allows a website operator to know whether a device (and probably its user) has visited the website before. In general, cookies are used to improve a website’s operation and the user’s experience, although cookies may also enable the receipt of marketing communications (as specified below).

On this website, with the user's consent, technologies that allow "cross-device" tracking, i.e., allowing to analyze the user’s activities performed through different devices (e.g., computers and smartphones), may be used.

For more information on what cookies are and how they work, please visit the website: All About Cookies (site in English).

First-party and third-party cookies

The difference between a first-party cookie and a third-party cookie concerns the control by the party that sends the cookie. First-party cookies are cookies that belong to the website that created them. We also allow third parties to send cookies to the user’s device. Although we allow third parties to access the website to send cookies to the user’s device, we do not control the information provided by the cookies and do not have access to such data. This information is controlled entirely by the third party.

Cookie types

  • Technical and aggregated analytics:

Technical cookies help us to make the website useful by enabling basic functions such as page navigation, setting privacy preferences and accessing or filling in forms. The website may not function correctly without technical cookies. Aggregated analytics cookies enable us to count visits and traffic sources so that we can measure and improve the performance of our website. They also help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and to see how visitors move around the website. Analyses performed on visits never present information from which the user’s identity can be traced.

Cookies with the following characteristics are considered aggregated analytics cookies:

  • cookies used by MAPEI only to generate aggregated statistics in relation to a single website;
  • third-party cookies with the following characteristics:
  • masking of the fourth component of the IP address;
  • abstention of third parties from combining such analytical cookies with other processing (for example, customer files or statistics of visits to other websites), or from transmitting them to third parties.

Your consent is not required for the use of such cookies.

  • Functionality:

    These cookies enable the website to provide advanced functionalities and customizations that allow the navigation based on several elements (e.g., language, selected for purchase products) in order to improve the service. If these cookies are not active some or all the services of the website may not work correctly. These cookies may be set up by us or by third parties whose services have been integrated into our website’s pages.

Your consent is required for the use of such cookies.

  • Analytics and statistics:

    Analytics and statistics cookies collect information about the users who visit our website and their web browsing. For example, they collect data that helps us to identify users accessing our website, allow us to see which pages are the most often visited, whether users receive error messages, and how users arrived on our website. These cookies are used to measure and improve the performance of our website and are sometimes sent by third parties who provide web traffic and analytics services.

Your consent is required for the use of such cookies.

  • Marketing and profiling:
  • Marketing and profiling cookies are used for remarketing activities (i.e., to conduct advertising activities towards users who have visited the website), for tracking the user's web browsing and for creating profiles on the user’s preferences, habits, choices, etc. These cookies, if they are third parties’ cookies, may also show the user relevant contents and advertisements on other websites.

    These cookies also include social media cookies that are used for enabling the user to share our contents on social media. If a user interacts with plug-ins, e.g., by clicking the Facebook "Like" button or posting a comment while logged into his/her social media account (e.g., Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram), the user links the website content to his/her social media profile. In such a way, the social media can associate a user's visit or the detected interests with the user's social media account. For more information on the data transmission, please refer to the privacy policy of the social media outlet of interest. Disabling these cookies may result in content not being shared on social media.

    Your consent is required for the use of such cookies. If consent is given for marketing and profiling cookies, technologies that allow "cross-device" tracking, i.e., allowing to analyze the user’s activities performed through different devices (e.g., computers and smartphones), may also be used.

    Cookies’ duration

    Our website may send session and persistent cookies on the user’s device. The difference between a session cookie and a persistent cookie is the different length of time for which a cookie operates.

    Session cookies are cookies that typically last until the user closes their internet browser. When the user ends their browser session, the cookie expires.

    Persistent cookies remain on the user’s device until the expiry date set on them. This allows for a faster and easier access to our website. For example, one persistent cookie that a website can read from the user’s device is the shopping cart identification. After the cookie has been sent, it may allow you to find the products the user has put in the shopping cart again on the occasion of their future visits to the website.

    After the purpose for which the cookies were collected is completed, the personal data is destroyed or, if there is a serious and legitimate reason, anonymized.

    Cookies on the website

    Our website may send the user cookies and similar technologies in different ways and for the following purposes:

    • simplify the use of our website and services;
    • monitor, analyze and improve the operation and efficiency of our website and services;
    • provide advanced features and personalization, which allow a better browsing experience;
    • detect interests and show information and contents in line with the detected needs, also by allowing the user to share our content on social media websites.

    It is our intention to be transparent and clear about the conditions and purposes of our use of cookies and other technologies. Therefore, in this section we have specified the types of cookies used by our website.

    • Cookie consent
    • How to control cookies through the browser

    Many cookies used on our website and by e-mail can be enabled or disabled via the consent tool or by disabling cookies via your browser settings. You can find more information on how to manage cookies via the main browsers’ settings at the following links:

    • Google Chrome
    • Mozilla Firefox (site in English)
    • Microsoft Edge (site in English)
    • Safari

    Please note that disabling a cookie or a cookie category does not cause the deletion of cookies previously recorded by the user’s browser, unless the deletion action is completed manually through the browser functionality. Notwithstanding the above, the user may use the Opt-out Network Advertising  service. This service allows users to select their tracking preferences for most advertising tools. Users are therefore recommended to take advantage of this possibility in addition to the information provided in this document.
