Mapei recently hosted a successful Tea Talk Seminar 2025 on the topic of “Green Tunneling: Sustainable Practices in Underground Construction.” The event took place on Thursday, June 5th, at the Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT), with nearly 70 attendees from the tunneling and infrastructure sectors.
A key highlight of the seminar was the participation of our esteemed guest speaker from the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), who shared valuable insights into MRTA’s initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across all current and upcoming Inter-Urban Transport and Green Logistics projects.
Mapei reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by showcasing the development of innovative, low-impact products and technologies. With an annual R&D investment exceeding €50 million, Mapei continues to drive solutions that merge technical excellence with environmental responsibility.
Attendees explored Mapei’s latest sustainable technologies for Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) applications, including advancements in backfill grout, concrete, TBM tail seal grease, and soil conditioning. These solutions are designed to minimize environmental impact without compromising performance, while boosting construction efficiency.
The seminar concluded by emphasizing the importance of integrating sustainable materials and methods in underground construction to support broader environmental and infrastructure development goals.
