Mapei at Marmomacc 2017

This year Mapei is celebrating 80 years of operating in the world of building and Marmomacc is a great occasion to present visitors with the figures and targets reached over the years in Italy and around the world.
Thanks to the excellence of the most prestigious companies, stone materials are used in many different surroundings such as hotels, restaurants and private homes, as well as in the most important sites all around the world. Whatever the setting, Mapei provides invaluable support to help install these materials thanks to the technologies and systems developed in its R&D laboratories.
This year Mapei is returning to Marmomacc with its latest, updated range of technologies and systems. Mapei is particularly excited about its proposal for substrates, waterproofing products, adhesives and grouts for natural and engineered stone and marble and is presenting new solutions for street furniture which are additions to its recent MAPESTONE and MAPEI COLOR PAVING systems.

All the solutions for natural marble and stone
Amongst the proposals on show at the trade fair there will be mortars, waterproofing products, adhesives, grouts and sealants to make screeds and to waterproof, install and grout natural stone.
One of the mortars presented will be TOPCEM PRONTO: ready-mixed, ready-to-use, normal-setting, controlled-shrinking mortar with Fast Track Ready Technology for shorter drying times made from special hydraulic binders and selected, graded aggregates.
Amongst the waterproofing products on show, apart from the historical two-component, elastic product MAPELASTIC, Mapei will be proposing MAPEGUARD WP 200, the alkali-resistant waterproofing and anti-fracture membrane composed of a special sheet sandwiched between two layers of non-woven fabric which, thanks to the perfect bond created by the adhesive between the membrane and the substrate and between the membrane and the tiling, may be interposed when installing ceramic and stone tiles. GRANIRAPID, on the other hand, will be Mapei’s proposal of excellence for installing natural stone. This is a two-component, rapid-setting and hardening cementitious adhesive for bonding natural, engineered and artificial stone and marble on internal and external walls and floors.
Amongst the sealants for natural stone there will be MAPESIL LM: a solvent-free, low modulus sealant with BioBlock® technology which, thanks to its special chemical make-up that protects substrates from unsightly stains and marks, is recommended by Mapei for sealing all types of material sensitive to acids and plasticisers, such as marble, granite, sandstone and quartz.

MAPESTONE for architectural stone road surfaces
Mapei’s highly appreciated MAPESTONE system, which is widely used for repairing, installing and grouting transitable stone road surfaces, now has a brand new “Dark Grey” colour available for the system’s ready-mixed grouting mortars, MAPESTONE PFS2 and MAPESTONE PFS2 Visco. With the “Neutral” version, which was already available on the market, and the new “Dark Grey” version, Mapei can now offer a complete system to help balance the attractive finish of even the darkest of stone roads. A complete MAPESTONE system forms a monolithic structure which remains highly durable over the years. It is used particularly for repairing ancient pedestrian zones and streets when their finish and appearance needs to remain in keeping with their surroundings.
Other new arrivals to the MAPESTONE family will be MAPESTONE JOINT one-component, solvent-free, odourless polyurethane binder, which is used to seal grout lines in blocks, paving bricks and cobblestones when installing pervious, elastic road surfaces, and MAPESTONE JOINT CLEANER, a specific, odourless cleaner and thinner for removing residues of Mapestone Joint deposited on the road surface when sealing grout lines.

Apart from actually taking part in the trade fair, the company’s long-standing partnership with Marmomacc continues in order to attract and bring in numerous designers from different countries from all around the world, particularly the United States, so they can see for themselves what’s new in the world of natural marble and stone. And this year, running parallel to all the products on show and in line with everything that has been achieved in the previous editions, Mapei will also be accompanying a group of American guests headed by its American subsidiary, Mapei Corp., so they too can find out more about Mapei technologies and systems. The group will also be taking part in a series of training courses covering all there is to know in the world of stone and stone materials: from extraction to maintenance. Mapei Italy and the Group’s American subsidiary will hold two training sessions. The first one will cover the genetic and technical-application characteristics of the materials and the second one will discuss how to choose the correct adhesives for stone materials.

Founded in 1937 in Milan, Mapei has now reached the 80 year milestone with 81 subsidiary companies – of which 7 are service providers – and 73 production facilities in 33 different countries in all five continents.
The foundations for the success of the company are: specialisation in the world of building by offering certified products and systems to meet the requirements of clients and market demand; internationalisation to be more in tune with local needs and reduce transport costs to a minimum; Research and Development which is financed to the tune of 5% of total annual turnover (80% of which is dedicated to the development of eco-sustainable products that respect the environment and the health of workers and end users).
