Mapei launches MAPECOAT TNS EXTREME to mark this year's edition of the Giro d'Italia

Pink epoxy-acrylic resin coating by Mapei to coat the cycle lane along the Lungomare della Libertà Promenade in Riccione

May 10, 2019

To mark the 102nd edition of the Giro d’Italia, Mapei has developed a new product which will be used to coat the cycle lane along the Lungomare della Libertà Promenade in Riccione, which is to be used as part of the Riccione - San Marino time trial scheduled for the 19th of May, 2019.

To honour the passage of the cyclists, Riccione Town Council decided to coat the cycle lane along the Lungomare della Libertà Promenade pink, and for the occasion turned to Mapei for their help.

To coat the cycle lane Mapei engineers suggested using MAPECOAT TNS EXTREME, a new two-component epoxy-acrylic resin which is used to mark out areas open to traffic, cycle lanes and pedestrian zones.

MAPECOAT TNS EXTREME is characterised by its excellent resistance to traffic, its high level of durability and the performance properties of the product, all essential features when creating lanes and tracks: rapid drying, versatility for ease of application on existing substrates and the possibility to create coatings in the colour of your choice.

For this special occasion MAPECOAT TNS EXTREME was supplied in the colour pink 80118 from the Master Collection by Mapei, the characteristic colour of the Giro d’Italia, which has been applied over an area of 2,300 m2 along a 1 km stretch of the cycle lane.

MAPECOAT TNS PRIMER EPW has also been used, a product recommended to improve adhesion of MAPECOAT TNS EXTREME to existing asphalt surfaces with a coating of old paint.

Mapei has always been closely involved in cycling and in the world of sport in general and has been operating in the sports facilities sector for more than 40 years. Also, thanks to their commitment to research and innovation, Mapei is accredited as the lead technical partner for the installation of every type of sports surface, from the consolidation of sub-layers up to the installation of playing surfaces, always paying particular attention to comfort, resistance, aesthetics and athletes’ safety.
