The publication covers the restoration and conservation work carried out on the archaeological site of Tilmen Höyük in Turkey and is dedicated to Giorgio Squinzi and Adriana Spazzoli. The authors, Nicolò Marchetti, Giovanna Franco, Stefano Francesco Musso and Maria Benedetta Spadolini, decided to make this gesture as a sign of recognition of their enlightened interest in culture and for the enormous enthusiasm they have always shown in support of this project.
In fact, it was thanks to the will and contribution from Mapei that this site was able to benefit from the cutting-edge solutions for the restoration and maintenance of archaeological remains between 2003 and 2008.
This scientific publication is intended to be a practical, complete tool on the approach to adopt for an archaeological park.
Inside the book there is a series of data sheets showing how to apply Mapei products and the effect they have.
The work carried out at the time included:
- grouting gaps in surfaces and anchoring detached areas and areas at risk of becoming detached using epoxy resin-based compounds;
- consolidation of the surface of the crushed limestone paving, which had a limited degree of cohesion.
The products supplied were:
- ADESILEX PG2
- MAPE-ANTIQUE MC
- MAPE-ANTIQUE RINZAFFO
- PRIMER 3296
Apart from the Tilmen Höyük archaeological park, it was also possible to develop other sites in the East thanks to the products and solutions supplied by Mapei.
Further information on the conservation work carried out may found in Issue No. 28 of Realtà Mapei International
