Mapei Group grows in The Netherlands

Local company Wecal acquired through the Dutch subsidiary of Polyglass
September 11, 2024

The Mapei Group, through Polyglass Netherlands, the Dutch subsidiary of Polyglass, has acquired the local company Wecal Isolatie Techniek.

Based in Wijk bij Duurstede in the centre of the country, Wecal is a company specialising in products and systems for flat roofing and façade insulation, with a turnover of EUR 25 million in 2023.

"The acquisition of Wecal and its structure strengthens the position of the Mapei Group in the Netherlands," says Veronica Squinzi, CEO of Mapei, "where we have been present since 2009 with a logistics and sales office. Europe, which contributes 55% of our group's global turnover, remains for us a market of primary importance where we want to continue to grow".

"By expanding our offer in the waterproofing and insulation sector," adds Marco Squinzi, CEO of Mapei, "we will be able to meet the demands of local customers and actively participate in the growth of the construction market in the Netherlands, which is expected to register an average annual increase of more than 2% in the period 2025-2028[1]”.

Pierluigi Ciferni, Managing Director of Polyglass, concludes: "Thanks to this acquisition in the Netherlands, Polyglass will be able to guarantee an even better service to the local market and develop its potential, in particular in the logistics, retail and, of course, residential sectors”.

The growth strategy of the Mapei Group continues under the sign of internationalisation and localisation. The Group is present in 57 countries all over the world with 96 companies and more than 12,500 employees and, in the year 2023, recorded a consolidated turnover of 4.2 billion Euro.
