Cementitious screed

Create the sloping screed at a thickness between 40 and 80 mm: prepare levels and spread the mix by carefully tamping and floating the surface to obtain a better finish

Adhesive

KERAFLEX MAXI S1 ZERO

Spread the adhesive on the balcony’s screed for installation of perimeter profiles using a notched trowel.

Profile for balconies and terraces

Apply the perimeter profiles to protect and finish the outer edges of the balcony. If necessary, provide additional mechanical fastening. Maintain a distance of approximately 5 mm between profiles and between profiles and external/internal 90° corners. Apply the appropriate joint piece at the joints between profiles.

Spread the adhesive on the screed using a 5 mm notched trowel to prepare the installation of the membrane.

Waterproofing, uncoupling anti-fracture membrane

MAPEGUARD UM 35

Place the membrane on the adhesive while still fresh and press thoroughly using a float or MAPEGUARD ROLLER.

Spread the adhesive using a 3 mm notched trowel.

Apply the band for waterproofing joints between adjacent membrane sheets, all corners and edges between membrane and perimeter walls.

Apply the adhesive using the double buttering technique. Use a spreader with a notch size that guarantees optimum buttering of the back of the tile. While laying tiles, it is recommended to use levelling systems of MAPELEVEL range to maintain the correct size of grouts and reduce height unevenness between tiles.

Grout

ULTRACOLOR PLUS

When the adhesive has set, fill the joints in their whole depth with the selected grout using a rubber trowel, taking care not to leave gaps or steps. When the grout loses its plasticity, wash off the excess product with a damp hard cellulose sponge They may also be finished off while the product is partially hardened by going over the surface with a damp abrasive pad (such as a Scotch-Brite® pad). Remove any cementitious residues with ULTRACARE KERANET.

Sealant MAPEFOAM + MAPESIL AC ECO

Seal the various elements of the balcony profile at their edges. Seal perimeter and expansion joints after inserting MAPEFOAM to set the correct depth. and then finish off the surface of the sealant with ULTRACARE SMOOTH SILICONE.
