Milan, 22nd october 2021 - Today Professor Federico Bella was awarded the Giorgio Squinzi Medal prompted by the Italian Chemicals Society in remembrance of the entrepreneur who passed away in October 2019 and his commitment to developing the Italian chemicals industry. Promoted by the Society’s Industrial Chemicals Division, the Medal - being presented for the first time - will be awarded annually to a researcher aged no older than 45, who has made a particularly important contribution to the field of industrial chemicals on an innovation-applicational level.

The medal was awarded to Professor Federico Bella, an associate professor at Turin Polytechnic “for his significant contributions on a scientific-applicational level to developing innovative materials for electrochemical processes in the renewable energy sector”. The medal was handed over by Marco Squinzi - Mapei’s CEO -– and the lawyer Laura Squinzi – President of the Board of Directors - during a special day of studies organised at the Mapei Auditorium during which Prof Bella gave a speech on “The chemicals industry for the energy sector: challenges in 2021-2030”.

I am delighted to award this medal - so Marco Squinzi announced - to honour both my father’s memory and also Mapei’s commitment to research, which has allowed us to help young researchers become increasingly competitive on global markets and tackle the challenges of sustainability with positive implications for the development of the Italian chemicals industry as a whole”.
