Mapei, one of the leading players on the world market of chemical products for the building industry, is taking part at the thirty ninth edition of CERSAIE, the international appointment which, at Bologna Fiera Exhibition centre, brings together the world of ceramics, from bathroom furnishings and fittings to those for architecture and interior design.
To mark the occasion of this important preview of what’s new in the sector, all those companies from the excellence of the Made in Italy brand will be meeting to participate at a unique event, in a context with a rich programme of meetings and events designed to debate and help understand current issues. This year’s edition in particular will be in the name of sustainability, with particular focus on research work into new proposals and technologies that help reduce environmental impact and provide a concrete response to climate change.
An issue particularly important to Mapei which will be at the very heart of the new solutions presented at CERSAIE, designed to provide a concrete contribution towards an increasingly sustainable building sector for the benefit of both people and the planet.
“We have been taking part to CERSAIE ever since the first edition”, declared Veronica Squinzi, CEO of Mapei. “For us, this is an unmissable international showcase that allows us to present what’s new from Mapei, to meet clients and compare ourselves with the market, to improve our portfolio and give our contribution to the development of the entire chain. This year the Group is also present with Profilpas, the new company, recently acquired. Furthermore, we are re-launching product demonstrations, an important training opportunity and the chance to open discussions with sector professionals, who are so important to us”.
“Sustainability, circular construction and reduction of the impact on climate change are all highly topical issues at the centre of this 2022 edition of CERSAIE”, added Marco Squinzi, CEO of Mapei. “Mapei undertook this journey towards sustainability many years ago: this year we are celebrating the tenth anniversary of offsetting our iconic adhesive Keraflex Maxi S1 zerø. To complete the first carbon neutral ceramic installation system, we decided to compensate also Ultracolor Plus, Mapei’s best-selling grout in the world. The amount of CO2 emissions produced during the life cycle of this product, measured using LCA methods and certified with EPDs, is 100% offset through the acquisition of certified environmental credits to help complete renewable energy projects”.
And once again this year Mapei is doubling its presence with two display spaces. In a new position in pavilion 25 (Stand A2), in an area of more than 500 m2, there will be a large showroom dedicated to Mapei systems and solutions for various types of environment: terraces, bathrooms, sitting rooms and other new features: from a preview of the line of protective and decorative coatings for internal applications – completely reviewed – to the first ever Mapei sealant produced without using fossil resources, to the introduction of four new products in the UltraCare range.
In pavilion 32 (Stand A8), on the other hand, there will be a space dedicated to sector professionals where they can discover Mapei products and find out more about all their various uses.
Profilpas, the latest company to join Mapei Group, will present in pavillion 31 (Stand A55) the large range of technical profiles and finishes for ceramic, marble, wood, laminate, LVT, carpet floor and wall coverings and its rich catalogue of profiles and listello tile trims for walls and floors, skirting boards, bathroom systems and shower drainage channels, light profiles and profiles for balconies, terraces and steps.
Water-based paints: performance, colour and living comfort
With an exclusive preview, Mapei is presenting the latest developments in its coating line: eight products available in three new formats and all coming in recycled plastic containers, along with two specialised water-based paints: Dursilite Igea, specific for damp environments such as bathrooms and kitchens, and Dursilite Gypsos, suitable for plasterboard walls. Also new is the introduction of a matt version, which joins the satin version, of the iconic enamel wall paint, Mapecoat Act, which is so easy to remove stains from.
Mapei water-based paints offer high performance, durability and aesthetics: in fact, thanks to the ColorMap colouring system, you can have them in whatever colour you like. Their cutting-edge formulation has very low emission of VOC and ensures excellent living comfort thanks to the values obtained for indoor air quality, guaranteeing ecology classification rating A+.
The sustainable revolution of Mapesil AC Eco
Mapesil AC, the iconic elastic sealant that goes alongside Mapei grouts in all the colours offered, has gone green. Mapesil AC Eco is here, the first Mapei sealant manufactured through a production process using certified renewable energy which comes in a special container made from recycled plastic.
Apart from the advantages of Mapei technology such as high elasticity, strength and durability, and along with its perfect adhesion and availability in a wide range of colours, it now features green credentials thanks to its manufacturing process which excludes the use of fossil raw materials.
Cleaning, protection and maintenance thanks to UltraCare
The UltraCare range, available on the market until now with 17 dedicated products for taking care of surfaces, has been extended with the introduction of four products: two new cleaners, a new protector and a complementary product.
Each product has been created to meet different needs: to remove and protect against mould, to create a smoother finish for sealants during application and to clean cementitious and epoxy grouts lines. The UltraCare family is an innovative, versatile and reliable system that makes the work of users simpler and guarantees the durability of every type of surface in private, commercial and industrial environments.
The stars of the show: sector professionals
Stand A8 (Hall 32) is entirely dedicated to experts from the sector: an arena where products and solutions are presented through practical demonstrations. And in so doing, installers and technicians will get the chance to learn, at first hand, the uses and advantages of the company’s products.
Mapei has always focused particular attention on its relationship with sector professionals – who are also the stars of the new communication campaign “The solution is called Mapei”, which has just been launched across all social media platforms – because it recognises how importance their role is: a sector specialist is, in fact, the only person who has the ability to choose and apply solutions and recommend them to end users.

Mapei is bringing its own quality solutions to CERSAIE. Products for a more innovative and sustainable building industry that are able to meet any and all needs in the residential sector, and not only.
