Mapei presents Chromie Mapei, an innovative project aimed at bringing designers, retailers and end customers closer to the world of wall paints. A revolutionary approach to interior and exterior colour, offering an integrated experience between the physical and digital worlds, designed for professionals and clients.
Chromie Mapei marks an evolution in the colour selection , the result of a long tradition which began in 1937 with Silexcolor wall paint,and and continued to the innovative Dursilite line of interior coatings. The new project integrates innovative point-of-sale display tools with an immersive digital experience, guiding architects, designers and end customers to discover a previously unexplored colour universe related to wall paints. In a market where colour plays an increasingly central role in the design process, Chromie Mapei transforms the choice of colours from a mere aesthetic preference into a key element in a path combining technology, functionality and design.
The project was developed in collaboration with Baolab, an industrial design laboratory specialising in CMF Design (Colours, Materials and Finishes). Twenty-four key shades have been selected, from which a structured colour flow was developed featuring 168 colours and over 300 total combinations, designed to enhance the vibrancy and visual power of the selected paints, offering a wide yet coherent range of colour possibilities that elevate interior spaces.
The physical component of Chromie Mapei takes shape as an actual colour wall designed for points of sale and showrooms, creating a strong visual impact. This display system enhances the entire collection of wall paints by displaying the range of Mapei colours, presenting them in an authentic chromatic flow. The modularity of the wall allows for customisation of the display units according to the specific needs of the spaces.
The experience also extends digitally with an interactive tool available on Mapei website, accessible both from desktop and mobile devices, allowing the users to explore the infinite colour possibilities and create customised combinations to transform and enhance environments. Each colour is accompanied by a verbal suggestion that enriches the colour narrative, offering an emotional and intuitive experience for professionals and enthusiasts.
In addition to exploring the available shades, the tool allows users to download all Mapei colour libraries in different formats, compatible with the main design software. Professionals can also count on the dedicated technical support of Mapei specialists.
