Mapei, world leader in the production of chemical products for the building industry, strengthens its presence in Southern Italy with the opening of a new commercial office in Catania. These are the company's first offices in Sicily, where the construction sector accounts for 12% of the regional GDP in terms of investment and 42.1% of industrial employment1.

With this new investment, Mapei, which has been operating on the Island for many years thanks to the activity of a dozen agents and fifteen technical specialists serving approximately 450 customers, including retailers and end users, will be able to contribute to the development of local infrastructures supported by PNRR (Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan) . Projects range from major infrastructures to multiple small and medium-sized construction sites, from ecological transition to school and hospital construction.

Located in the Industrial Area near the airport, the new spaces will allow all building professionals, from designers to installers, to meet Mapei experts and obtain useful information to enhance their work. Training activities will be the focal point of the new premises, thanks to a space dedicated to courses organised by the Mapei Academy. The Mapei Academy is a training initiative offering free events for professionals and companies, contributing to the development of local skills. In Sicily, every year Mapei organises around 20 courses for resellers and 10 seminars and conferences for professional technicians, in collaboration with professional associations and issues training credits.

Over the years, Mapei has contributed to the restoration and enhancement of many important architectural and infrastructural projects in Sicily. Notable projects include: the redevelopment of the Kamarina Archaeological Museum and Park in Scoglitti, the Salinas Museum in Palermo, the restoration of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and numerous lighthouses across the island, including Punta Sottile in Favignan; the work on the Akragas viaduct in Agrigento. Mapei solutions have guaranteed the durability, aesthetic quality and respect for the historical identity of these sites in each of these projects.

With the opening of the new headquarters in Catania and the construction of the production plant in Modugno, in the province of Bari, Mapei strengthens its presence in Southern Italy. A real commitment aimed at enhancing the territory, improving logistic efficiency, getting even closer to customers and reducing environmental impact. The direct presence in Southern Italy allows the company to respond more quickly to the needs of a rapidly evolving market, contributing to local development through professional training, the use of cutting-edge technological solutions and a commitment to sustainability. It is a growth strategy based on solid foundations and a forward-looking vision.
