Alkali-aggregate reaction mitigation admixtures are products that are added to concrete to control alkali-silica reactivity (ASR) by stabilizing the expansive silica gel, which prevents cracks from forming in the concrete. These admixtures are used in new concrete to mitigate ASR caused by reactive aggregates, highly alkaline cements, or external alkaline sources such as de-icing salts.
