Air New Zealand - Hangar 3

Location icon New Zealand
Air New Zealand required advise on how to deal with oil contaminated substrate and non slip requirements. This was the third Hangar project that Air New Zealand have selected Mapei epoxy solutions due to very successful installations in both Auckland and Christchurch Airports. The previous coating was badly damaged and degraded in areas allowing oils and fuels to contaminate the underlying floor. The contractors used Mapei's unique oil resistant primer, Primer CC 200, to lock in the oil and create a substrate suitable for the subsequent resin coating. The installation company removed all previous coating by heavy grinding and repaired any craks or damage with Mapefloor I 900. This was followed by priming the floor with Primer CC 200 oil resistant primer and two coats of Mapefloor I 302 SL with 10% 0.25 aluminium oxide incorporated.
