WiFi thermostats connect to your home WiFi and enable you to control many of your floor-heating system’s functions, depending on the model. They can be conveniently controlled via the manufacturer’s app for either Apple or Android devices, or from a Web portal on your browser. WiFi thermostat control is limited to setting the minimum or maximum temperature, and activating and deactivating a program. They cannot remotely turn the floor-heating system on or off, but can enable warm-weather shutdown to ensure that your floor-heating system doesn’t run when your home’s outdoor or indoor temperatures rise. With their convenient features, WiFi thermostats are ideal for vacation homes or to track energy usage.

How is Ultrabond ECO 379 different from Ultrabond ECO 373 or Ultrabond ECO 399?

Ultrabond ECO 379 differs from its sister products in that it is specifically designed to be applied using a roller. Its viscosity is low and easy to apply using a roller, but it would be difficult to apply using a notched trowel. If necessary, Ultrabond ECO 379 could be applied using a trowel, but the result might be a bit messy if the trowel is moved quickly across the floor as with Ultrabond ECO 373 or Ultrabond ECO 399.

How many Mapeheat systems can I connect to one thermostat?

You can install more than one mat or cable to a thermostat, provided that the total draw does not exceed 15 amps. The thermostat typically holds up to 3 or 4 sets of leads before fitting the lead wires into the terminals becomes difficult.

How should Mapeheat Membrane be installed into the subfloor assembly below the floor coverings?

Installation of Mapeheat Membrane below luxury vinyl flooring follows the same installation method as engineered and laminate floors: First, embed the floor-heating system within cementitious material, ensuring in 1/4" (6 mm) of coverage above the heating system. Either a mortar or self-leveling compound can be used, but achieving the desired flatness is easiest with a self-leveling underlayment. Proceed with installing the floor covering on top, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

I don’t like the color of my grout. How can I make it look like it’s supposed to, or do I need to replace it?

Replacing grout is certainly one way to fix the problem. Instead, use UltraCare Grout Refresh, a water-based colorant and sealer that is available in MAPEI’s full palette of grout colors. I have a pitch on my exterior concrete slab and I need to level it. What product should I use?

You can use Topcem Premix or Mapecem 102 to level your concrete slab. If you have freeze/thaw cycles in your area, substitute the mixing water with Planicrete AC for Topcem Premix, or use Mapecem 202.
