Adrian Otaegui secured his third European Tour victory yesterday, winning the Scottish Championship at Fairmont St Andrews and his first victory at a stroke play event.
Otaegui, who has been sponsored by Mapei UK since early 2019 achieved a four-shot victory over Matt Wallace at Fairmont St Andrews. With a final round of 63, in a performance that included 10 birdies Adrian was quoted as saying “I feel so happy. To be able to win in Scotland, the home of golf, next to St Andrews. It means a lot to me”.
Beginning the tournament with a 62 on Thursday, Otaegui overcame a four-shot deficit to finish top on Sunday at 23 under.
Adrian’s previous wins included the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Plan in 2017 and the 2018 Belgian Knockout.
Delighted with the win Mapei UK Managing Director Phil Breakspear said “It has been our privilege to support Adrian over the last couple of years. We are delighted to see his hard work pay off with this thoroughly deserved win“.
To the delight of Mapei’s customers Adrian held a golf clinic at Mapei’s National Golf Day at Woburn Golf Club in 2019 along with fellow professional Chris Ryan, also sponsored by Mapei UK.
Mapei has a proud history of sport sponsorship, they are currently owner sponsors of “Serie A Sassuolo FC” and main sponsors of the UCI Road World Cycling Championships.
